Yes, call me foolish. And I will call you a constant whiner who perpetuates a sky is falling, woe is me, victim mentality around here. The same mantra over and over again. Now we will see several posts of you calling Drury a chump. You seem to have it all figured out RB. You have all the answers. Every other GM is better than ours. Zito, better. Zito makes the best trades (even though they haven’t won shit and were on the cusp of being walked right out of the playoffs in the 1st round just a year ago). Raise that banner for Zito RB. Let’s ignore some of the other moves Zito has made & some of the luck that team has had with Bob finding himself in the playoffs last year because otherwise that team is a mess and irrelevant right now. Giroux trade bad. Vatrano trade, technically bad return for them because he cornered himself. You want to laud Zito (and every other GM) and bash Drury every chance you can. Good for you man.

I am not saying Drury is perfect. Not even saying he is spectacular. But miss me with the worshipping of other GMs who have not won a cup, not to mention a lot of this is a crapshoot. Boston had an incredible team last year and get knocked out in round 1. How many years did it take Colorado to win with that level of talent? Same goes for so many others.
Don't mean to poke any bears here but:

Would you trade our roster for The Panthers?

Pretty sure everyone would.

GM's all make mistakes & they all get lucky at times & they all make calculated decisions that go both ways.

Right now, we all know the score.

In the playoffS there currently IS NO CAP. How am I negating it? I’m instituting it. I don’t care about regular season cap machinations and maneuvers. The point is to get teams to cut that bullshit. To take away the advantage of playing those games. But if you want to add a mil or two to what you can ice in the playoffs to balance it, fine. What we don’t want is a team taking advantage of regular season LTIR to have a playoff team with a cap 15 million above what teams who didn’t game the system, or “coincidentally” have injuries at precisely the right time, have.
You're negating what teams can do in the regular season by instituting a cap in the playoffs. With your proposed solution, a team could add a player who fits under the regular season cap due to prorating, but then the player would not fit under the playoff cap. That's exactly what I showed you in the example I gave.

Maybe you don't care if there are trades. Maybe you don't care if players get injured and can't be replaced. But I guarantee you the league and the players care.

If you want to stop teams from abusing LTIR, then put a cap on LTIR. You don't need a cap in the playoffs. Anyone not on a team's reserve list after the trade deadline is ineligible for the playoffs, so if you put a practical limit on LTIR use in the regular season, that will affect the playoffs.

Duclair off board makes me think that whoever we get needs to be just slightly above replacement, or at replacement since, you know....Kakko and all that.

What’s the score? 0-0? It certainly is for Zito’s Panthers against Drury’s Rangers in terms of cups.

No I am not. I am ONLY restricting the total cap hit you can ice in a playoff game. Nothing more. Do what you will regular season to make up for injuries, but the team you ice for every playoff game has to be under the cap amount. How is this confusing? It couldn’t be more straightforward: the 20 players you ice for ANY and EVERY playoff game has to be under the regular season cap.

I’m going to be irrationally upset if they get Chychrun.

Hanifin was right there
Chychrun is bar none one of the best all around defensemen in the league when he's healthy. He's locked in at a great number for three runs if he's dealt tomorrow. I'd rather him than Hanafin any day of the week all things considered when Hanafin is getting a retirement contract starting with a 7.

It is 0-0

Again I don't wanna pick a fight with you or anyone else but even in the past 30 years, FL & the NYR have won the same # of Cups

The Panthers started in 1993-94

So def 0-0

No matter the GM

I'd still take their squad right now for ours.

Anyone say otherwise?

Clyde-isms for NYR

Goodrow: dwelling and smelling

kakko: deking and reeking

Trouba: looking and hooking

Lindgren: chucking and sucking

Bonino: perspiring and expiring

Zib: gliding and hiding

Reaves: yapping and crapping

Nemeth: throwing and blowing

Wheeler: chasing and disgracing

Gallant: losing and excusing

Micheletti: glazing and praising

Sam: confusing and misusing

Why would Ottawa trade him? He's 25 with a decent contract.
