This system is a joke, teams that aren't manipulating the system are benefitting and it's always the same 3 teams, tampa, Vegas and Colorado.

Trading Kakko and a 1st for a rental who won't be on PP1 would certainly be a transaction.
I'm against the trade but Guentzel if thats who you're talking about should be on pp over either Zib or Trochek.

We shouldn't be in on Guentzel, for many reasons but the main one is we have no idea what kinda player he is without Sid so why unload prospects and picks. Do we think he'll be as good with Zib as he was with Sid....I'm really doubtful it's even close.

Real puck knowers would have him on Panarin's wing

I 100% agree. And I think there's a strategy to how injuries are handled organizationally. It's never a guy with an expiring contract that goes out on LTIR. It's someone with term and security. No player is going to agree to go on LTIR if they're fighting for a new deal. And every player has nagging injuries. I think it's about how those teams handle those kinds of injuries. I'm sure every player would prefer to rest and fully recuperate from all their nagging injuries, or maybe get a surgery they could have waited for the offseason to have. Then the org kind of swoops in and couches the discussion such that they have their asses covered but still get the desired LTIR outcome.
The league should be involved once an injury occurs. I dont trust Vegas at all

All the more reason to force Mika into waiving his NMC if he can't find enough success this playoff run to win a Stanley Cup

I'd be interested to here how you think it would work, I can never come up with a sensible solution.
If you extend the days out to the theoretical end of the SCF it has some really weird effects on cap calculation for every team that doesn't make it that far. And what happens if you assume you aren't getting past the 2nd round so plan your cap accordingly. Can you only play with 16 players to be cap compliant during the conference finals?
it's a new season. you want to give a little cushion like 5%? sure. Team on the ice has to be compliant. Whatever the league determines it has to be an even playing field...

icing a roster that's $100M against a team thats in the $80's is a major issue. 2 of the 3 last cup winners abused it. It's an unfair competitive advantage

It'd be like a Light Heavyweight fighting a Welterweight. It just doesn't make sense

I'm against it...but i think we'll have Guentzel for Kakko and a 1st, in this scenario we still need another rw.
