We shouldn't be in on Guentzel, for many reasons but the main one is we have no idea what kinda player he is without Sid so why unload prospects and picks. Do we think he'll be as good with Zib as he was with Sid....I'm really doubtful it's even close.

Agreed. I’ve always felt like Guentzel was more of a “lurker” who is elite at playing off of puck dominant players and finding soft spots to score. Not sure those attributes are maximized with Kreider/Zib. I honestly think they’d benefit a ton from a speed guy like Duclair who can just flag down Troubas aimless bouncing chucks to nobody in the neutral zone so they can at least gain the zone off the rush more

If we don't win a Cup this year, I don't think whether or not the RW next to Kreider and Mika is a fit going forward matters. Because quite frankly, we need to start reconstructing our top line without one or both of them at that point.

I would imagine any smart GM who knows their division rival (canes) is in on a player you show "serious" interest to raise the bids on that player. Hopefully it works and Guentzel heads west.

He's not a great fit for Kreider and Zibanejad like you said. That's why he probably needs to play with Panarin and Trocheck if they get him. Am I confident the coaching staff will identify it? Not exactly.

I don't think he'll be a rental is the point. I think he becomes part of the core moving forward and the current core gets a shake-up.

Perspective:

I swear I read that he was assessed by a league doctor (was a while ago though).

So the issue probably isn't that players are having injuries, Hossa did have an allergy, it's for how long they are willing to play with the injury before going 'screw it'. So, do you force players to sit for little niggles, or do you force them to play even when injured?

Stop doing that... Kreider has the leg strength to jump out of a pool. That line is terrible, but he can certainly carry Zibanejad.
