What an entertaining game. I have a feeling Edmonton makes it close.

Edmonton +750 is enticing the way this game can break

Wouldn't surprise me if EDM flips it around, especially since im hitting a Verhaege anytime goal + FLA win parlay right now

Clearly McDavid is more interested in playing with silly putty instead of winning this game.

McDavid got frustrated and decided that 1 on 5 is the best way to go
Edmonton was a 5 player team yesterday
The Refs will offer no protection

Knoblauch has work to do.

Second goal was on Nurse. He has to be ready for the quick pass out. He knew it and took the blame on thee bench.

The Kane revenge hit on Bennett he gave him the Bennett sneaky face punch like z Bennett did to Marchand.

I take this as a sign the Oilers are going to overwhelm the Panthers in game 2 by their sheer will to win

Both forwards blew their coverage. The defensemen did what they were supposed to. You could argue that the failed in execution (Ceci wasn't first on puck, the pass went through Nurse) - but if the forwards did their job defensively, there would have not been a goal.

Ceci anticipated that there would be a puck battle, but got beat to the puck and was caught off guard by the quick pass. Same thing with Nurse.

Nurse was in pursuit to cover the angle, the first forward was most likely supposed to fill in at the front of the net but instead he also pursued on the far angle.

The biggest thing is that Kane completely floated as if there was no threat at all and gave Florida's forward the complete inside zone.

Problem one was both Nurse and the forward pursuing, I think Nurse was the right person to pursue but I am not 100 percent sure. But the biggest problem was definitely Kane. The coverage was completely blown and the front of the net/center ice was wide open.

Reuniting Nurse & Ceci was an interesting decision.

Nurse is a team worst -15 and second worse isn't even close.

His contract is definitely up there for the worst in the league.

Ceci seems to be a healthy scratch tonight. “All coaches view him as a top 4 shut down d man and they’re pros”
LOL. Something to point out when people say they want to trade for him this offseason.

I think Edmonton will have a good push back game tonight, and expect a win. Bob isn't impervious, and it's way too early to not bet on Mcdavid and Drai to figure him out.

teamyears since their last cup final appearanceyears in the playoffsyears out of the playoffsseries wins
Calgary199102
Edmonton186127 (So far)
Ottawa176113
Vancouver 13 5 8 2

total 67 combined 26 in 41 out 14 to date

26/67 = 38.8% of years in. 32 team league (today, was 30 for large part). 16 teams make it!!!!
14 series wins in 19 years. Any one year offered 11 series that could have been won by the 4. Total = 209. So 6.7%. And Edmonton has put up 3 this year.

MTL too recent. Toronto too embarrassing. Winnipeg has yet to reach a final.

Good thing, we are the home of hockey.

Look at their d corp. Other than their first pairing, there is not much to be intimidated by.
Ceci is playing very well away from Nurse. Deshairnais is playing well away from Nurse. Kulak is playing very well away from Nurse. This common denominator has been apparent.

But in any case Edmonton was one of the top defensive teams in the league and went on long stretches holding opponents to 2GA/G or less. Even last game, empty net aside they held Florida to 2 goals, effectively Florida's lowest output this playoffs (tied).

Edmonton is winning by D this season, not by its offense alone.
