It will be interesting to see what they do in the off season and what happens next season, if they begin slow again and are not FUN TO WATCH, people will stop going.
Man i'm worried about letting Atkins trade Vlad. Vlad is not the type of player you trade for a defesive specialist or relief pitcher.Jays and Vladdy not close on extension.
Good trade the bum

Bo and Vlad IMO are dealt with by the next group. No way Atkins is around much after we are eliminated and the first task the new GM will have which won't be fun is to sign both Vlad and Bo and if they can't make the numbers work to trade them immediately. It's why having Atkins on board through the deadline is a nightmare because you don't want him and his bad trade record making those deals.Man i'm worried about letting Atkins trade Vlad. Not a chance he has a job after this season unless the jays magically catch fire and get into the post season. But I agree completely. If he's around after this season they'll lose some significant true ball fansIf Shapiro keeps Atkins then I don't see anything to get excited about no matter which direction Jays go in. 0 confidence in him.

That mess deserves repeating. One of worst teams in baseball with a 240 million dollar payroll. Empty farm systemWe heard you the first time.
Surely Schneider has almost zero trade value. As I stated long before they started posting articles about it, the Jays will be looking to retool for next season rather than just trading for prospects.
Since the core starting staff still has a good chance of being good, Springer isn't going anywhere (although stranger things have happened *coughvernonwellscough*), the stats apparently show Horwitz is actually pretty good at second (I don't see it but that's what the metrics are saying so...), and the Jays have stated on multiple occasions they really like Jansen, the biggest needs the Jays will need to address is another long term starter, offense from left field, and offense from third base.
Pieces most viable for securing these pieces, that aren't just relievers on expiring contracts because nobody is likely to give up anything truly good for them, are Bichette (assuming he's not injured), Kirk (because you really don't need two #1 catchers and an everyday 3b/Lf is way more important) and Schneider (because I can totally see this management giving up on him too soon and some other team jumping to snatch him up). Although nobody wants to see Bichette go, he doesn't seem to want to be here and this organization is loaded with SS players. SS isn't normally an offensive position anyway, and you would make it up with offense from 3rd and Left. Kirk's term is up soon, and while he is useful, when we're talking retooling, you have to give up players like him. Schneider may have offensive potential but we've seen so many guys explode onto the scene and then nosedive afterwards I can see this management being spooked, and his defense is overall blah, so I imagine trading him for offense at a position loaded with infield prospects might seem like a good idea to the Jays.
It's entirely possible this won't happen, but if the Jays are making the kind of moves they need to seriously retool for 25', then it's likely these moves, and it's likely these players that will go. I just can't envision them pulling it off with other players, but again, stranger things have happened.
Well i think trading this season is out the window since had re-injured his calf, and no team will want to take the risk, since he either didn't fully recover or it just gave up on him again in the first game he was back.I doubt they do it but Id entertain trading Bo if they can get some young semi proven talent.. similar to the Varsho deal. A team making a push willing to give up controllable years for an upgrade. He is having a down year but should net a significant return, no one has more hits the last 3 years in the AL. Move on from anyone with a signifcant contract for whatever you can get, gain a little more flexibility and make Vlad your franchise corner stone. They need to keep one of the 2 or the last 5 years or so are a complete waste. With the salaries going around, Vlad making 30 plus long term should not be an issue.
He's a buy low candidate for contenders. They'll look at age, career history, and team control hoping for a stealWell i think trading this season is out the window since had re-injured his calf, and no team will want to take the risk, since he either didn't fully recover or it just gave up on him again in the first game he was back.
Its probably unlikely he's back before the deadline anyway, possibly longer. Calf issues can be tricky, remember Donaldson? although he was much older than Bo obviously.
Yeah but you don't trade Bo low this year,He's a buy low candidate for contenders. They'll look at age, career history, and team control hoping for a steal
Kikuchi will get an decent returnKikuchi should net a nice package.
Garcia should net a nice package.
Richards should net a nice prospect.
Jansen, how much of a market will there be?
If they’re retooling, I hope they target legit prospects in the above deals rather than guys lingering and overcooked in AAA.
Look for those types in Kiermaier and Turner trades, even if it means paying some cash.
Sounds like there’s no appetite for moving on from anyone with term, but I hope they’re listening at least.
I’m on board with moving the pieces but I think it’ll be in the off season. Atkins has not done well at all with trades. Especially when we are getting the futures. I think they’ll let the new management make those moves.
