For me, the off-season will be premised on one thing:

Re-sign Vladdy long-term -- success
Go into next season with free agency looming -- complete and absolute failure

I sure as heck hope this management team does not eff this up. He's already remained unsigned for far too long.

Agreed, you need Vlad signed before you head into free agency... Hard to make an actual plan for the future and attract players to surround Vlad when he isn't signed. The Bo saga can continue... unless he is willing to sign a decent deal with some opt outs maybe.

After Vlad signs, see how much Bo really wants to stay with him in T.O. he did say he wants to win with Vladdy. Let’s see.

I think Bo may know his best bet may be to stick in a comfortable spot and have a bounce back season... short term extension with opt outs make him flexible to cash in if he has a big year. I think if he's signed for one year you trade him.... can't walk him to free agency especially if the team is having a good season.

Bo is already signed for next year. Vlad is in his last arb year. Both are free agents after the year.

Yes, I'm referring to if he's not extended and just left to walk to free agency, you need to trade him. This stage of having Vlad in his prime, a qualifying offer and compensation pick is not the return you want for Bo.

Under no conditions should Bo be on the team next year if he is not locked up long term. That would be idiotic (yet it isn't unlikely with the management group in Toronto)

The more I think about it, the more I think Vlad should play mostly 3rd next year. Cause I want him, Horwitz, and a Pete Alonso all in the lineup at the same time. They have abandoned the Horwitz at 2nd experiment. Unless there is a big bat at 3rd Jays can grab? I don’t know who that might be.

3B would be just Bregman in terms of impact players, or I guess you could go for Adames if you think he or Bo can handle 3B.

There are definitely more good options available this offseason. Last year it was Ohtani, a Soto trade, or... Chapman? Bellinger? Then if you wanted a bat it was guys like Turner and Martinez and Soler.

Now, beyond Soto, there's Santander, Alonso, Walker, Adames, Bregman, Teoscar, Profar... so many good options to improve the team.

I think they need a full-time, middle of the order bat (obviously), plus at least a right-handed platoon bat to supplement the young lefties. O'Neill would be amazing as that second piece, but I could see him getting overpaid as a full-time player, and he's really not.

Personally, I would avoid Bregman. I think he’ll get too much and not sure how long is bat will hold up.

O’Neill would be great but he is injury prone and like you said likely gets overpaid.

Jays do have some nice trade pieces they could use as well.

Bregman is having a down year for sure.

Finally Jays have some nice pieces they can use for trade. Seemed like last few years their pieces were not attractive to other teams.

I'm comfortable with Clement as a starting 3B at this point, and I don't see anyone there that I'm confident would be an impact bat against lefties next year (maybe Orelvis, but really hard to know what to expect from him).

There's isn't a no-doubt 1st pick anyway, but it'd be nice to have that bonus pool money. We can cut a deal and get two more 1st round caliber players later on. Cleveland signed Bazzana for 1.62 million under slot in a similar scenario.
