Braves and Mets win.

That's the lone race left for a playoff spot in my view. Royals just won as well to end their losing streak, they gain another game on the sliding Red Sox.

The Yankees get the gift of the White Sox beating the Orioles...and they respond by getting their butts smacked by the Rangers.

I hate playing the ''If George was still alive'' game but there's just no way Aaron Boone would survive losing another series to a non-playoff team.

Phillies win their 5th straight game. Back to having the top seed in the NL as the Dodgers are off and most importantly 3 games ahead of the Brewers for the bye. Ranger pitched 5 shutout innings. Granted against Miami

Tigers hang on. Padres/DBacks/Braves/Mets now separated by 3 games.

What do you do if you're Shildt/Lovullo headed into that final series in 3 weeks if say ATL/NYM are both sitting 1-2 games back or tied. Do you even consider the off the record nobody sweeps the other, lets just get in, ensure neither of those 2 teams can gain 3 games on either of us and then beat each other to death at will next week, home field, who cares. KC and the Brewers won't have anything whatsoever to play for vs NYM/ATL so it really puts SD/AZ in a bad spot if one gets swept if we assume everyone is still alive.

Even though they didn't play today, the Mets still won with all 3 of the Braves, Diamondbacks, and Padres losing. Tied with the Braves for the last spot now. Mets remaining schedule is tougher though. Hoping our hot streak continues during this final month.

In theory I guess the Mets still could catch the Phillies. 7 back with 20 games to go and they play 7 times. Though they would have to win at least 6 of those games. Very unlikely scenario but we've seen the Mets blow 7.5 game lead to them with 18 games so it isn't impossible.
