Circling back because I found something somewhat germane to an earlier conversation ...

I have a small Hall philosophy. While Dewey was my favorite player growing up, I thought he belonged in the Hall of Very Good. He certainly was a defensive whiz with 8 Gold Gloves long before his bat finally arrived in his very late 20s. My perception was that although he had longevity, his lackluster stats early in his career doomed him from real consideration. I came across these stats, and now I'm not so sure.

That's some serious company he's keeping.
I think he should in the HOF.
Add a 67.2 WAR / .840 OPS which is great and a career .272 BA.
If he had hit more HR's say 450, he would be a shoe in.

Hell baby

Goodbye sweet prince Trey, you were one of the worst pitchers I’ve seen in a Sox uniform <3

I like that Ramirez stays in the system, he’s got the stuff for the bigs. Just gotta work on his command/control inconsistencies and it’s sweet that we can do that with him off the 40 man. He’s bounced around a ton, teams obviously like some of what he does

Considering those numbers during the span of Dewey's career ...
He ranks 6th in OPS behind Schmidt, Brett, Murray, Rice, and Jackson (all Hall of Famers).
He ranks 10th in WAR behind Schmidt, Brett, Henderson, Morgan, Grich (only non-Hall of Famer), Boggs, Ripken, Carew and Fisk. Murray, Dawson and Winfield (all Hall of Famers) directly follow Dewey.

AA Portland wins 8-5;

AAA Worcester loses 5-3;

Greenville or Salem haven't seen anything significant since last night's combined no-hitter by the Drive
