Hey guys, I keep looking for a rundown about how the guys looked. I'm just overwhelmed with work/kids/band this weekend and won't get to watch so much as a minute. Would love to know how the youngsters look. Particularly Helenius, Whalberg, Ostlund, Komorov and Novikov.
Thanks
Some brief thoughts off last night's contest -
Helenius - "raw" was
@old kummelweck 's term and that is apt. He looked like someone who is going to need time to adjust to the different ice size. Made some interesting passing choices, though may need to be drilled to shoot more. (It's still early.)
Wahlberg - had a nice backchecking moment followed by a dangerous rush, seemed the most settled of the three on that line to me.
Ostlund - played LW with Helenius at C and Wahlberg on RW, set up in his "spot" on the RW circle on the PP but didn't get his shot off cleanly off a nice cross-seam pass from Helenius. I was more interested that they have him on the wing.
Komarov - took a hit early but was good in transition and had a sequence where he did a quick give-and-go to wind up taking the return pass at the dot for a chance
Novikov - rambunctious would be the word that came to mind. C'bus tried to open physically and Novikov was one of the guys who seemed most interested in pushing back on that.
*Note to readers: nothing in here is overt criticism or an indication that the player is floundering or doomed or perhaps even already a broken husk of unrequited potential failing to manifest. It's just some observations on last night's prospect game.
