Cap rising 30 mil saves a lot of teams asses with being able to use franchise tag this season.

Also gives NE no excuse to not franchise someone like Owenu.
Patriots already have no excuse not to tag Onwenu and give them more time to work on an extension. If they cut Jackson and Godchaux they will have over 100 million in cap space, we will know they are not serious about winning games or spending money if Onwenu is playing for anyone else next season.

The surge in cap isn't great for teams like the Patriots and others that already had a lot of cap space. Unless Mike Evans still doesn't re-sign with Tampa, there's going to be a lot of teams fighting to sign Calvin Ridley, potentially the only wr on the market who had more than 750 yards this season. Ridley is nice but if his market starts getting into 20 million aav or more, he's not that guy.

Giants are just waiting to pounce on Onwenu and everything I read says he will be available.Course I read Marvin Harrisson should be Pat's pick to while most say QB

I’m torn.

I really feel in my bones that Harrison will be a HOF player, but there’s such a hole at QB. I don’t know if any of these QBs are that good… What to do?

HOF WRs simply don't matter as much as even an All-Pro QB.

Zero rings combined for Moss, Fitzgerald, Carter, Megatron, Owens, Julio, Steve Smith.

The greatest WR, maybe the best player ever period, still had Montana and Young.

You made a very compelling argument.

He’s too skinny anyways

Yup the extra $30 is actually bad

All the best will be likely kept

However, gotta use franchise tag now and Onwenu would be it

If Troy Brown isn’t in the HOF for wide receivers it’s a joke

I probably went to 90% of his games the guy was phenomenal but because he was undrafted and not doing pushups in his driveway or wearing an anchor of bling around neck he’s an afterthought

I go back to Paul Warfield and Fred Belitnikof and he’s a winner who could excel at special teams, block, even defense

I should also make clear that I don't agree with someone like Felger who thinks a WR like Moss prevents you from winning a Super Bowl. If POS Asante Samuel makes an easy interception Moss it the most skilled player on the greatest team in history. If Dan Quinn got his head out of his ass and told his OC to run the ball Julio has one. Larry Fitzgerald was a defensive stop away from a title, too. Owens and Steve Smith ran into the same dynasty in back-to-back years.

And it's not like great QBs don't need people to throw the ball to.

It's just that a good QB has way way way more impact on a team and franchise than even the best WRs.

And even knowing all of that it's going to suck when we don't take MHJ. It will be the right decision (whether it works on long term or not, we're looking at the process and not the result), but it's still gonna sting.
