If we do go get more wingers, him or Guentzel would be at the top of my list. I think Smith could be had for pretty cheap and just increase our depth there. Added bonus is we could bring Nedejkovic along.

Edmundson + Lindgren makes a lot of sense. I want some big-body insurance for Manson/JJ. I'd even sweeten the pot to get Dowd included. Then there would be no holes on the roster.

The Avs have certainly poked around on him and know the basis of what it would take for a deal. Along with that, their cap space fits perfectly with a Guentzel at 50% (3.0) + Needy (1.5) would take to fit. They have pieces that Dubas is known to like (24 1st and Gulyayev).

With all of that, I'd be shocked if there were not at least discussions.

Genuine question, based on your knowledge: are there not concerns at some point about doing too much at a deadline? As in, adding too many new big-name faces to a room? I'm not saying that Guentzel is the guy that makes it too many -- I want him -- but I'm just curious at what point you don't want to start making too many big moves with the playoffs in sight...

There is always a thought of doing too much to ruin chemistry. Teams have wrestled with that for years. But 3-4 pieces is not usually a concern... 6-7 gets there.

More of the concern is getting a guy who just doesn't fit for whatever reason. Like Tatar to Vegas in 18 should have worked by all accounts... but it just didn't and everyone knew it nearly right away. That happens with fair regularity and is always a risk no matter if it is 1 move or 5.
