Stamkos signs a 4-5 year deal under 5m, Guentzel gets 7.75x7, Moser under 2, Motte comes back, and we ride into the sunset

Assuming Guentzel plays with Point and Kuch, who could we theoretically bring in to play with Hagel/Cirelli that would make the 2nd line actually dangerous? Because right now we're still a one line team, and we just dumped our best goal scorer.

Guentzel - Point - Kucherov
Hagel - Cirelli - XXXX

They're definitely gonna need some fire power on that 2nd line, cause right now they ain't scoring very much. Also going to need someone to replace Stamkos on the left circle PP.

Might as well discuss the topic at hand. Jeff Skinner was bought out today. HFBolts, do we want him?
It wouldn't be the worst move if we didn't have Sheary, but we do. Another light/small guy isn't what we need. I'd prefer Skinner over Sheary but can't see us moving him and then taking on Skinner. He's not top 6 for us, or at least what we should aim for.

Also, there's the whole 0 playoff games thing looming overhead too.

Brett Murray from the Sabres is an RFA (arb). If he could play his career against the Crunch. he would be a first team all star. He has good size (6'5"/228lbs) and seems to be one of those players who willingly wears the title "Crunchkiller". Seemingly anytime he is in a slump, he plays Syracuse and literally owns the Crunch.

Might be worth a look as fourth line defensive center or a first/second call up option from Syracuse. Injuries have hampered him a bit but I am sure it is nothing that Florida sunshine and beaches over Upstate New York snow and cold over the winter would not cure.

Reilly Walsh is a UFA that might be a friendly contract add. He joins Murray as one of those players who usually give the Crunch fits, regardless of what team he is playing for. He is a 5'11" and 181lbs offensive defenseman.

If Tampa is looking for two players to add as two-way contracts that fill Crunch veterans and who are also first or second callups to the Lightning, I would consider both of those players.

That pretty much rules Skinner out.
Additionally, if a player cannot stick with the Sabres, should we expect him to do well with the Lightning?
Wasn't about Skinner so much as his ridiculous contract. Any team in the league would have bought that out.

I don't think he's a good fit here, but he will be a decent addition elsewhere, on a better contract.

Guentzel will be a 40-60 +30 guy next year on a line with Point and Kucherov and everyone will wonder how the f*** we could get all three for under 10m.

The key here is obviously the Sergachev trade. First off, Hedman now gets even more offensive zone faceoffs, making him more effective and lightening his load, he could and should play the entire PP like Kucherov does.

McDonagh is an infinitely better defenseman than Sergachev defensively, McDonagh had 28 even strength points with the bulk of his work in the defensive zone last year. Sergachev, in his best year and playing mostly in the offensive zone had 36 even strength points. This is a very big upgrade.

Then there is Moser, who in a vacuum isn't the player Sergachev is but for the minutes both would actually play, is going to provide more value than Sergachev. That's three upgrades on defense.
