Would you rather have the 2023 1st overall to pick Bedard, and say the 10th over all pick in the 2024 draft, or keep Carlsson at the 2nd overall pick in 2023, and get the 2nd overall pick again in 2024 to get one of Celebrini or Eiserman?
Hard to say since we haven’t actually seen their draft year.

If the top 3 guys in 2024 actually are on the same level as the top 3 guys in 2023 then that seems like a no brainer.

I guess I don't see how the top 3 is being compare to the top 3 in 2023 when Celibrini is not being touted as a generational prospect like Bedard.

The ducks are going to be no where near the bottom of the league in 2024-2025 though.

The 2024 draft is very likely the last top 5-10 pick we get for a long time IMO

I suppose it’s possible but much more likely they’re a mid-range team in 2024-2025
Yes, ideally you are right but history shows that rebuilds are rarely linear and often there are periods of backtracking. The Ducks D will still be atrocious in 24-25 barring a major trade / FA signing. Killorn and Gudas will be in their mid-thirties and Fowler will be getting close to that. Gibson? Who knows. I'm not expecting them to finish bottom 5 in 24-25 but a bottom 10 finish wouldn't surprise me at all.

You seem to be hyper-focusing on the bad and ignoring some of the good that’s coming. It’s not all roses and sunshine. But Drysdale and LaCombe will be established by then and Minty, Zellweger should have already gotten their feet wet. And there will be some additions at some point via trade

It was clarified later. I asked the same thing before the lottery.

It only counts against you if you move up.

I really don't like that additional rule tacked on. It benefits rebuilding franchises to stay longer in a rebuilding stage, which kinda defeats the point of limiting teams winning the lottery. Also, now it makes me feel we didn't win the 2nd overall pick.

Chicago "won" Bedard in 2023. They could finish last and get a 1st or 2nd in 2024. Afterwards, they could be beyond the bottom-2 picks and could win the lottery in 2025/26/27.

Thoughts on Konsta Helenius ? Tankathon has him ranked 6th.
I like Levshunov for Dmen, 6'2. Another bigger guy to balance out having Drysdale and Zellweger.
I hope Kiviharju grows to 6'1 because he might be good too.
I honestly havent looked too far into forwards out side of Eisermen (who i think is a glove fit for us if we are in a spot to get him, with what we already have).

Been more excited about the potential of getting another cornerstone dmen to put around Mintyukov + drysdale. I dont take too much into consideration until this up coming season.... so im sure a lot of lists (and opinions will change)

I just hope they trade the correct Dman when the time comes to make room with all the young Dmen the Ducks have and they get good value in a trade. I want Artyom Levshunov 6'2 right shot D & he's playing for Michigan State which means no Belarus/KHL issues at all. It appears he left Belarus in 2022, smart kid.

I had heard that this draft is supposed to be a better Finland class with Kiviharju D and Helenius RW expected to be top 8 picks.

I would easily take Carlsson and 2 2nds. 2nds are worth so much more than a 10th, which could very easily be a nothing. And while Bedard is an amazing prospect, he is still a tiny center without great speed. Carlsson is a large, smart skilled center. I think his floor is very high where Bedard could be a highly product player with some serious defensive deficiencies due to his size and lack of speed. 2 additional seconds would be 2 huge additions.

Ill take quality of quantity at this point. Id rather move up and try to find a top pairing d then move down and take 3 shots at a quality winger.

The Ducks already have 4 of their top 6 forward guys of the team set for years in Carlsson, Zegras, McTavish and Terry. The other 2 spots of the future top 6 can be either UFAs or some of the other prospects pan out like Perreault, Pastujov, Myatovic, Terrance, Hvidston, Tracey etc

Getting a guy like Levshunov would be huge for the franchise.
Mintyukov/Levshunov
Zellweger/Luneau
Hinds/Drysdale
Lacombe/Warren
Moore/Helleson

Agreed. Rakell was just traded for a 2nd and a not top prospect. Assuming the rest of those guys hit realistic potentials, the Ducks only need a Rakell level player as the 3rd wheel (that level of impact, not necessarily that skill set). Ducks can probably land someone better because one or two of the D they need to trade will likely be more valuable than either the 2nd or Clang were. If Anaheim can develop these kids properly, Ducks will be sitting pretty in a few years with top end talent and depth to make moves.

And during part of Getz career they had the top 4 forwards Getzlaf, Perry, Selanne, Ryan and the other top 6 forwards were 3rd wheel guys, no offense to Saku Koivu.

What is neat is how right shot heavy that old group was compared to the Ducks now: Zegras, Carlsson, McTavish are all left shots while Terry is like the lone right shot.

Connelly really boosted his stock with his Hlinka, seems his controversy isn’t weighing much on the scouts minds either. Would be kinda cool to see the ducks snag him or some of the other OC prospects in this draft.

Beandsegg Nygard I think would be a good fit for ANA. And Silayev coming out of nowhere will be fun to follow.

A lot of good options for the Ducks, It's nice being in a position where they dont have a GLARING hole that they need to address like they had at center before drafting Zegras, McTavish, and Carlsson.

They can draft any position and it will be a welcome addition, except maybe LHD.

Pair him with Warren and call it the two towers pairing.
In the video where the Ducklings exit the bus pre-game (it's on Ducks socials somewhere), man Konnor Smith is a big dude, even compared to Warren  ofc Warren is much more realistic to make it to the big show, but if somehow Smith can make it, watch out.

Edit: here it is
