Has anyone brought up Sean Skahan's son Will? Will Skahan at eliteprospects.com

Huge & high defensive IQ Dman from OC. Seems like a guy the Ducks might covet... Probably doesnt make it second rd since these guys usually climb draft day, but could be a late first if they grab another pick.

1. Celebrini
2. Demidov
3. Lindstrom
4. Levshunov
5. Dickinson
6. Parekh
7. Eiserman
8. Catton
9. Helenius
10. Silayev

Interesting that they have Silayev at 10. Besides that I think they have a very solid top 10

He outta be able to skate well right? Wasn’t it Skahan who was instrumental in turning around Perry and then Ryan’s skating.

A youtube channel duo.... maybe Locked on prospects? forget b/c I watch too many videos on prospects to recall who... I was doing research on Emery weeks back and this duo talked about Skahan. Skahan has more tools than Emery, but Skahan isn't able to put it together. The duo like the game Emery is putting on the ice, even though it's mostly a defensive, shutdown role.

One mock draft that goes into the 2nd round (tankathon) and Central Scouting NA - Midterm ranking have this order in draft selection. Guess that's three scouting media all on the same page with Emery and Skahan.

RD 6'3, 198 lbs Elick
RD 6'3, 195 lbs Emery
LD 6'4, 212 lbs Skahan

Not generational, but he's going to be a very very good player in all aspects of the game for a long time, I could even see some Selke years. Besides Maybe Leo, he'd be the most talented player in the org.
Also it seems this year the gap between #1 and #2 is larger than last few years. Not to diss Bedard, but Carlsson and Fantilli also had #1 pick hype.

So yes, if there was a lottery to win, I say better now even than last year.

I don’t get why buium isn’t getting a lot more love, and Helenius.

Yakemchuk at 3 is bold, but I like it. I’d still take levshunov over him tho

Buium is small and his skating isnt a plus trait so its hard to see him transitioning to NHL level. Pronman says it quite well

"Buium has been one of the top scoring defensemen in college as a draft eligible. He is a very intelligent puck-mover who can run a power play like an NHL player. He makes high-end plays routinely and can break shifts open with his puckhandling. Buium is a strong enough skater who can activate off the blue line and create off the rush. His defense is good enough at the amateur level, but he isn't very physically imposing, and whether he can make a lot of NHL stops will be a debate. His feet are good enough that with his hockey sense at both ends, I think he can survive enough defensively at even strength to make the most of his offense and be a top defenseman for an NHL team."

Basically he is just enough to get there but that isnt really what you want from a top defenceman especially in a strong defence draft.

But Pronman predicts that he will transition well.

I think he will be just as good in his own zone.

I've said it before but his stock will rise or fall with his measurements at the combine. 6'2"? Top 5-8 pick. 6'0"? Top 8-15 pick.

I can't imagine that under PV's leadership the Ducks future core will have any defensemen (with the possible exception of Zellweger) that are under 6'2".

Why would that be a diss? Everyone who watches this sport knew Bedard was a more than typical first round guy. Guys like Carlsson and Fantilli are what you'd compare to guys like Hughes, Mackinnon, Celebrini, etc. Special talents but not quite potential generational talents.

I mentioned it in case anyone interpreted that I didn't consider there to be much of a gap between Bedard and Leo/Fanta.

It might be a height related. I'm impressed with both since they're playing at a higher level than the CHL. Helenius probably isn't seen as an NHL center due to his size, but if he's producing that much at a men's league (Liiga), then he'll probably produce at wing in the NHL.

I forget where I read up on Yakemchuk's scouting, but it came out to "all offense, little defense". I'll take the NCAA product in Lev.

At age 17 in the top Finnish league, Helenius is over 50% in the faceoff circle, so that bodes well for at least being able to handle that particular aspect of the center position moving forward. He seems like he's going to be a well rounded, dependable player wherever he ends up positionally. Skilled as well, not much to dislike there outside of lacking above average size

After Celebrini, i might have Helenius as the 2nd forward in the draft (Demidov prob there skill wise, but will likely go further down due to russian)

I have Lindstrom as the second F but can see having Helenius right up there. He's probably getting slept on a bit in terms of fanfare among top prospects in this draft. He's having an impressive season for a kid who doesn't turn 18 for another 3.5 months. Love the reports that he plays with a chip on his shoulder.

Demidov, yeah like Michkov probably right up near the top if he was already in NA, but will slip a bit.
