Yeah, after the 2 Chicago Athletic writers are pushing HARD for Demidov, I think Chicago will finally take Demidov in the end. :(
Don't know who they'll take but i know for almost sure the Chicago Athletic writers have no idea either. GM and head scout don't reveal their plan before the draft that would be an incredibly stupid thing to do and they certainly don't take into consideration writers to decide who they pick. It's possible GM and head scout leak false information though that would be a good idea actually.

Don’t get too excited guys, Columbus is going to completely screw us over by either trading with someone who takes Demidov or just selecting him

Bigger seems to be irrelevant for this type of player. I just think it’s a poor way to build a team. And for an organization that has a total of four 70+ point players since the 1990s, it’s time to take a forward with upside.

Bigger is always relevant on D. I'm a believer in Hutson, I think the sky is the limit for him. But size still matters and will always be a tiebreaker because lack of size is a limitation on D.

And wanting a 70+ point forward is a backwards way of looking at it. Montreal's forward group AND D core sucked this season. And Montreal has a number of young forwards with significant upside too (Suzuki had 77 points, Caufield, Dach, Newhook, etc.) and there are trades you can make.

You build a team by going for guys who you think will be elite players, regardless of position. If that's Demidov, great! But if you think its a choice between, say, Tomas Vanek or Ryan Suter, I sure hope you go with Suter.

Yeah it’s naïve to think it’s just betting shifts when the draft is in Vegas of all places.

Yes, it's a bunch of drunks in a Casino in Vegas shifting European lines from +1400 to -200 in the span of 12 hours.

It couldn't possibly be a leak, just as we've seen the previous two draft classes that dramatically shifted the odds on Draft day with Nemec, Slafkovsky, Wright, Leo Carlsson.

There are people who make a living doing this in 2024, if you're ignoring movement this significant you're putting yourself at a disadvantage.

Does this mean Buium is a lock for #3? No, it doesn't, but it certainly is much more clear that there's a significantly better chance of that happpening as opposed to 24 hours ago.
