Okay that looks good! Haven't really watched him myself, but I'm impressed. So it's safe to say almost guaranteed player between Celebrini, Lindstrom and best defencemen available from Sharks POV. That's pretty nice stuff.

I really want Celebrini but I don’t think there’s a doubt that whoever we get is likely going to be a stud that will be a key cog to the future of this team.

But boy do I want Celebrini.

His ceiling is the galaxy. 6'5 centers that skate the way he does and are physical are a super rare commodity. And he has all the skill in the world too. Was scoring at essentially a goal per game pace before he went down.

Someone said he could be our Getzlaf, I see it. Once he fills out that frame he's going to be a serious bully out there that dominates the corners and is impossible to knock off the puck.

Just flip through this video and take look at same of the clips and how he's moving. Unreal talent.

what did he hurt because if its his knees im out.....

Was having a little fun over at Tankathon
It only took 13 tries for the Sharks to claim the 1st overall. Christ! It even gave it to NJ before finally giving us the brass ring.
It gave the Pens the 10th overall pick, so 3 1sts in 2025.
Besides Celebrini, it had the Sharks landing Elrick with our 2nd rounder and Freig with NJ 2nd

Oh no there is a 6'7 center committed to BU projected for the 2nd round haha Dean Letourneau

So PIT's 1st is at 8th right now (total points not points/game). With that said, they have a game in hand over a few teams. If they win that extra game, they sit at 10th using ROW as the tiebreaker. It's really going to come to the last game to know whether or not that pick is 11OA or lower.

Isn’t it contingent on where they pick in the lotto and not the standings?

Yes. The lotto happens, then PIT decides within 72 hours what to do with the pick (if it's top 10).

Best best case scenario is they finish 13-16, we finish last, they win the lotto for 1OA, which means we get Celebrini and they get pick 3-6, and then they somehow decide not to keep it.

This is unlikely as if they get pick 3-6 I bet they keep it.

I suspect if they get like 8-10 they may still hand it over to us, but any lower I doubt it.

I will be even more sad because it highlights just how stupid the lottery is
:( I think a flatter lottery is better, to be honest. There are clearly things teams can do to make themselves worse, and as a fan, it's painful to root against your own team for years. If the last 5 teams had ~the same odds, I wouldn't be cheering every time the sharks get scored on.

I've said it ad nauseum, but I don't think a lottery should exist at all. It's very clear that the lottery doesn't demotivate teams from tanking, which isn't a problem in itself considering that drafting is how you have to build a top team in a cap league.

Agreed that the lottery (as we have it today) doesn't de-motivate teams from tanking, but, I think the way to de-motivate tanking is not to remove the lottery (which would give the 1OA to the team that finishes last). If anything, that would cause teams to tank /more/. I think that the final, say, 5 to 10 teams should have equal odds. That way, there would be literally no advantage to tanking. The downside is that really actually bad teams might be in the basement for a long long time.

I personally don't think tanking is a problem at all, and that's the thing. It's not just not a problem, but again, inherently necessary in a cap league.

The NFL is the most successful sports league in North America and rivals the best in the world (of which the rest are soccer and all free-for-all spend leagues where only 2-4 teams have a shot at the title any given year and it's the same every year).

The NFL just has a reverse finish draft order.

Arguably top 1-3 picks in the NFL are more important than the NHL because of the Quarterback position alone. Where the NFL draft is different is that there are starters all the way into the 3rd+ round.

I don't see why a reverse finish draft order wouldn't be the way to go. There's already enough dumb luck in the system.
