Philly just doesn’t have high quality enough assets. This one wasn’t going to happen.
I'd rather have a Demidov or a Lindstrom than Necas, to be honest.I mean Necas is definitely an interesting asset. We have enough prospects, so if we were to trade down while filling one of our main needs, that’s not a bad deal
Or that he thinks that there is a strong need for additional glue guys and vets to make sure that those kids that we've been adding develop properly and we actually get out of the hole we're in in a timely manner.it is entirely possible that waddell has the same myopic focus on accelerating the timeline of this very young/bad team to make the playoffs immediately that his predecessor did.
The Babcock debacle and probable defecits w/r/t pro scouting.sure, and this would align with parts of what waddell said, but brings up some other questions:
- if they truly are close, again, why change the GM?
We've already had speculation that some of those "new faces" might already be quite familiar to anyone who's been following our prospect development.
- if the roster is near-playoff quality, why the "5+ new faces" comment?
Because one might get a really high quality patch with the #4 overall; if we don't get that (or a lot of assets that will make said shoring up that much easier), I don't think it gets traded.
- given their asset surplus, why part with the #4 overall pick instead of shoring up the roster using other assets?
Anaheim sticking with their strategy of drafting high hockey IQ players if so. Smart. All the buzz seems to be Buium at 3.
All this talk about trading down has replaced my excitement for the draft with a sense of impending doom.Saw on twitter that Waddell has traded down in 11 straight drafts he’s been apart of. Not sure if accurate but something interesting to look out for

Y'know, I was just thinking I wasn't feeling enough despair yet today...Ohio sports in a nutshell.
Murphy's law applies, whatever can go wrong, will.
Well, keep in mind that we’ve reportedly already turned down two firsts and a roster player for the pick. The price is high. If we accept one, it’ll be for a lotAll this talk about trading down has replaced my excitement for the draft with a sense of impending doom.
What does it even mean ? They met with Demidov but based on that meeting, they like Lindstrom more?
It's a summary of all things related to CBJ in that tweet. They were separate points regarding the different players. It said that Demidov had met with Columbus again. Then it went on to talk about Lindstrom and said that he had another meeting with Montréal, but the feeling was that Columbus and Philadelphia really like him. What does it even mean ? They met with Demidov but based on that meeting, they like Lindstrom more?
They like them both I think. There is a very real chance only one of item is there at 4. Lindstrom is the type to rise a lot. What does it even mean ? They met with Demidov but based on that meeting, they like Lindstrom more?
They met with Demidov, meaning to me he’s in serious contention, but the prevailing thought is we will be picking someone else (Lindstrom)What does it even mean ? They met with Demidov but based on that meeting, they like Lindstrom more?
I see what you did there.Anaheim sticking with their strategy of drafting high hockey IQ players if so. Smart.
