I'm warming up to Teej. I like his inside game a lot. He reminds me of the winger version of Suzuki.

At this point, I do still favor Lindstrom and Demigod, but any of Buium/Dicky/Parekh or Eiserman/Iginla/Catton would be welcomed with arms wide opahn.

This draft feels like 2003. Can't go wrong.
DEMIGOD. Love that nickname.

That being said I'm quickly warming up to Tij as well. I love the idea of him being our pick.

That will be a great pick. Iginla is my favorite since the beginning, but the tools of Sennecke looks more unique.

Sennecke is a top 10 talent for sure. Picking him at 5, will be a great pick.
Of course, this is just what I think, but with us passing on Leonard last year for a player that has more tools in Reinbacher, it does seem like management values unique traits a lot. This was the case with Slafkovsky. Not to mention that we passed up on trading the pick for Gauthier who's likely in the same tier as Iginila and Leonard.

Unless you are picking Kostitsyn of course

I believe that Sennecke or Iginla have more potential than Leonard or Gauthier even if I believe they are both great players aswell.

To me, I understand Reinbacher over Leonard or Benson, but the player I really upset we pass on it's Matvei Michkov (that would be their Artem Panarin for the Habs). If Demidov is there at 5, that would change everything.

I think the 5th overall pick had been discussed at ad naseum, so...

How about some targets that are ranked around a later pick you'd like to see the Habs select ?

Still working my list but since you ask, assuming that the 18 guys never out of top 20 would be out:
Igor Chernyshov (should not be there )
Ryder Ritchie
Terik Parascak
Jett Luchanko

Stian Solberg
Adam Jiricek

Find a way to get Demidov, that’s all.
Yes, if Hughes is serious about getting a forward he needs to trade up to the 2nd overall position. We will hate the price but it needs to be done.

After Celebrini, Demidov the next 5 best players are all D-man so it will be unforgivable to pick the forwards simply because this is a need.

If Sennecke were to slip past the 10 OA, how aggressively should Hughes pursue him?
There’s zero chance he slips past 10. Big, smart, toolsy kid who exploded in the later half of the season will be highly touted. We won’t have any realistic assets to trade for a pick to draft him.

My guess is the conversation will be around taking Lindstrom (baring Demidov sliding) with Sennecke challenging. And ultimately going Lindstrom.

Yeah, Bob’s final list will likely reflect that.
Problem is who drops?

Helenius? Apparently some teams have him top 5

Dickinson? Not even close

Buium? Why?

Parekh? Maybe

It sure won't be the top 3 forwards or Igninla or Levshunov and Silyaev

Then there's Yakmechuk and Catton that might also find takers. I do have him close to 10 but other than Parekh I'm not sure anyone else should drop out but that still makes 10

Helenius stock has dropped over the last couple of weeks, rightly or wrongly his last impressions on scouts were not good ones.

Solberg will surprise people with how high he goes now, don't be surprised if he's not picked by San Jose or STL.

Dickinson will push his way into the top 5 on Bob's list unless his last few memorial cup games are beyond awful.

I'd expect Bob's final list to be something like

Celebrini
Levshunov
Demidov
Silayev
Dickinson
Lindstrom
Buium
Sennecke
Parekh
Iginla
Catton
Yakemchuk
Helenius
Solberg
Eiserman

I am a fan of Helenius although I think his recent play hasn't been good enough to be an option at 5. Only guy I really don't want at 5 is Eiserman. If he falls outside the top 10 then I'm fine with trading up for him.

My issue with Helenius is that I just don't see elite attributes anywhere. He's a Johnny-All-Around with good hockey sense and Meh size. Some of those players translate, but, against the best in the world, I feel there's often a plateau. I don't tend to bet on them.

It’s the other way around. After watching games of him you’d start overthinking about why Iginla and even Lindstrom should be taken before him.

After watching his highlights, yes. His game footage is much less convincing. There will be a gap between any player's highlight reel and any given game, but the gap is larger for Sennecke than for Iginla, to my eye at least.

Now the question is....would they take him ahead of Lindstrom.
There are a few other 1st round hopeful draftees who have been injured almost all season and you don't hear a pip from their agents. So I feel like Lindstrom's agent is panicking which probably means his medicals files will show a long term issue.

I'm expecting Lindstrom to drop out of the top 10 at this point.

Because they're not expected to go near the top 5 or didn't lose as much of their season during their injury. The only other ones are Kiviharju and Jiricek, but those were knee injuries and happened a long time ago.

The agent wouldn't be sending the medical information to teams if there was a long term issue, they'd be doing something way more shady.
