Bettmans loves high end duos ,
Malkin - Crosby
Hischer-Hughes
Drai-Macdavid
If the lottery was rigged...let me tell you..Bettman would have never let the best player in the last 20 years ( Mcdavid) going to the North pole of Canada...Edmonton.

In fact , the worst case scenario for the league was Mcdavid to Edmonton or Winnipeg..

Matthews would have ended up in Arizona, as well.

Not to mention Draisatl wasn't even a 1st OA.

If this Lindstrom back injury is serious, we need to be super cautious if we are in a position to pick him. We are already an injury prone team, especially with a guy like Dach who we can't count on playing 70+ games most seasons. It could be a Vilardi situation where you get a good player for maximum 60 games a year.

Yup. And if we're honest, Lindstrom isn't the star a few of the people on this board have made him out to be.

Fall? You mean rise?

Yeah, i'm all aboard the Iggy train, but this is getting a little out of hand. I can see him going anywhere from 6-12 at the moment. In my rankings, I have him at 6 or 7 with him and Catton being interchangeable (and Lindstrom being healthy) for now and that's because i love him as a player. I can see teams having him at 8, 9 or 10. I compare him to a bit of Jack Quinn type prospect (with a better motor) except Quinn was one of the oldest players in his draft class and Iginla is one of the youngest in his which is pretty damn impressive.

Don't think people are labeling him as a star, but his athleticism, size, and goalscoring are very enticing if he's healthy.

Iginla is definitely this year's board man crush, the hype percolates here and then suddenly people are talking about them going well ahead of where the final projection is.

He's raised his stock and that's good for us because that's one more option but we are still talking about a class that is defined by the defenseman and defenseman are always in demand.

Its not getting out of hand, people are just catching up.

People were talking of him as a slam dunk #2 OA and a pretty certain 1C. He's the third best player on his team right now, maybe fourth if you want to put Wiesblatt over him.

The physical package is undeniable, though.

4 forwards are unlikely to go before us, and there’s no way you know “for sure.”
Hughes literally said that they would like a forward but won’t hesitate to take their top defenceman if it falls that way.

you would take Levshunov over Catton or Iginla ?
Yes I absolutely would. Love Iginla and I like Catton, but Levshunov is a special defenceman. He’s far better than Mailloux.

And once again prove that tanking takes effort and commitment to bare to the bone a team and live with it.
If it has a pulse, trade it.

I hate them.

Yeah, but they could have just easily gutted their team and only had Will Smith to show for it.

Banking on a lottery win in a generational talent year isn't really sustainable. You need to be lucky. Those fans were ready to kill themselves when they won a game at the end of the year that moved them out of the best Bedard odds.

1C is a reach, but something along the goalscoring version of Byfield isn't entirely crazy to think about. I mean McKenna is just ridiculous so it's not even fair for Lindstrom. Overagers aren't really a fair comparison either, looking at Andrei Svechnikov, Luchuk and Sokolov (when he joined) were better players. Doesn't really mean anything.

The physical package along with goalscoring ability makes it hard to ignore. Watching Slaf make key plays that result in goals without him getting any points highlights this.

Which doesn’t mean at all they will “for sure” take a d-man under your scenario.
