I love that everyone is aboard the Iggy train...

(*watches as Habs pass Flames and they take him)

Helenius has been absolutely lights out in the playoff games I’ve been catching up on. Best player for his team, really engaged at both ends, and reads the ice exceptionally well. The tools are coming out more and he’s making strong plays very consistently. What he lacks in size he more than makes up for in compete. I’m still waffling on whether his IQ has the potential to be dynamic or whether it’ll just mean he’s adaptable, but I’m definitely a big fan. He’d be destroying the CHL if he was in NA.

Lindstrom - has spectacular tools able to generate separation in the first step, good hand in small spaces, physically aggressive . The size and tools look so good it scares me that we would ignore issue that could limit the NHL potential but at the same time most team will and he won’t be available at our pick

Iginla - Is very young, does a lot of small thing very well, being the son of a NHLer superstar he might be better equipped to deal with the bright light of MTL, higher floor but the ceiling might not be has high.

Catton - is production pretty amazing (and it isn’t out of nowhere) he might have the highest offensive celling of the WHL trio but doesn’t have have the same physicality or physical attributes.

Demidov - the most skilled and dynamic. Russian factor\ everything he does works playing in the MHL but will he it translate to the next level…

I'll reiterate it again, but this draft has a good amount of size that should be spread out throughout the draft, so there shouldn't be a reason where this team only drafts 1 forward over 6'.

Don't get me wrong, drafting size because of size is dumb, but we all know when the playoffs come you need some of that size.

Trent Swick looks like he could be another solid 4th liner with potential to be a bit higher.

There's also some RHD with size that look to be available later.

Yakemchuk looks like he would be a really nice pick to get if the Habs had a 2nd fairly high 1st. I know he needs some work, but he's got that package that could be an absolute menace and I could see the sens being interested.

Celebrini, Demidov, Levshunov, Dickinson and Lindstrom is my top 5 and will probably be out of reach. Though If we keep the 6OA, we might get lucky and one of them slips to usIt it happens, i definately take that player, even if it is Dickinson. If not, i'm pretty sure it will be between Iginla and Helenius.

I have to say, having gotten to sit down and look at more games lately, Iginla has really solidified his spot for me in the past two weeks. He's been killing it in the playoffs so far and with how young he is and how mature his attitude seems to be, this kid has everything we seem to want in our young core. I'd be real comfortable with him as our early first pick and I could even live with trading up to get him if we fear he might be gone just before our spot. I'm that high on him. He's in a great program too, Kelowna has been one of the best NHL pipeline for 20+ years now.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lindstrom falls to the back half of the top 10 or even out of it if teams are truly concerned about his health.

Back in 2017, Vilardi was ranked 5th on average across 12 publications but because of health concerns he dropped to 11th.
