Hypothetical scenario: We pick 6th and Calgary 7th. Both Iginla and Lindstrom are still available. Calgary calls and want to switch pick with us - they offer their own second. They clearly want Iginla. Do you take the deal?

No, because I’d want Lindstrom and maybe Calgary does too.

Yes but only if they lift the conditions on the Monahan 1st and make it their 2025 pick without protection. Iginla is separating from the pack to be the 2nd or 3rd forward drafted. He’s stepped up his game.

Iginla over Catton all day

Wont be popular but above Demidov too.

I think above Lindstrom too but this one i need more time to reflect on it.

I think Iginla has less raw talent than those 3 but man, he is such an obvious, easy pick.

This kid will be a player.

I would have no problem if we picked him 2nd OV tbh. (No problem with the other 3 too, a simple personal preference for Iginla.)

Yeah, PG is an infinitely better team playing a one man team. They're focused on shutting him down exclusively and he has no help.

Can't believe raw stat humper Doerrie (who hates Slaf) would pick Eiserman high.

Anyways, with our win against Florida, and our unnecessary point accumulation lately, we can forget Celebrini and Demidov. Lindstrom's health keeps him in play.

Since we will be picking 7-9:

No chance - Celebrini, Demidov.

Low chance - Lindstrom.

We have to focus in on the group of Catton, Helenius, Iginla and Eiserman. Gotta get this one right. I'd go Catton, Iginla, Eiserman and Helenius in that order.
Sorry WTK and Catton fans, but the Habs wont even considere him, Ive already pointed out his weaknesses, he is cheese cake to play against and cheats alot positionally, the last thing Habs need is a softie who doesnt play the right way. He has no chance to become a center and he isnt a boards player either.

There is a group of 4 fowards after Celebrini. Lindstrom, Demidov, Helenius, Iginla, all 4 have legit chances to be the Habs pick, it will come down to their evaluations and who is left on the board. Demidov is the most highly touted, but the other 3 possibly fits the mold better, they are workhorse and skate better. Lindstrom is a 6'3 power center who may drop a bit due to injuries, Iginla is a 6'1 power winger on the rise while Helenius a smart and skilled 2-way center with great instincts.

If we draft 7-8, I think its going to be Helenius or Iginla, so they are the ones I will focuss the most on for the rest of the season. Its about 50/50 for me at this point.

I think the odds we draft another defenseman are close to 0.

No, I'd send them a fruit basket with a card reading: "Nice try, this ain't WWE"

If Calgary picks after us, just let float around the rumor Tij Iginla is 100% our guy and see what they offer to us to trade our pick. I think they might be desperate.

I'd say yes to #9+Pelletier for #7, then draft one of the fallers (ideally Eiserman).

Pelletier would be perfect on our 3rd line for a LONG time.

I’d rather Iginla than dropping two spots to get Eiserman and Pelletier.

We have a bigger-better Pelletier in Roy, and Pelletier is another small body.

Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky
Iginla-Dach-Roy
Newhook-Beck-Farrell/Heineman

That has a nice mix of size, speed, skill and defensive ability. Eiserman is a bit too one-trick pony for me.

That thinking would have gotten Kakko taken 1st overall in 2019

I would like to see Demidov, but I don’t see the Habs taking him before Lindstrom or Iginla. He’d be they play B in the forward group

Could also ger one if the Ds that fall, lile a Buium, maybe.

Farrell and Heineman are not looking too great. Career AHLers I think. I'd rather have Eiserman and Pelletier.

Pelletier's value is at its lowest right now with his shoulder injury. Might be had for cheap.

Kid is a WINNER. 10x the player that Farell/Ylonen/Heineman/RHP/etc. are.

I didnt follow that draft, no clue how Kakko handled himself in his draft year, but he was apparently a perimeter player.
Nope, not at all.

He was literally seen as a complete player that was willing to go to the front of the net and the boards.

Ok, Pelletier is better than Heineman or Farrell. The 9th forward - it’s kind of redundant.

I take Iginla who can score and play a complete game over Eiserman who can only score.

Just need to make sure we don’t drop below the Flames.

If Tij is half the player as his Old Man I’d be very happy. I lived in Calgary for most of Iggy Srs career there and got to watch him live more than any other player I’ve ever seen, similar to Price he was asked to carry a mostly shit team on his back for a decade due to crappy mgmt, with a better supporting cast his numbers would’ve been at least 25% higher, teams just had to key on him with no other real threats

Pelletier gives the impression that he's just as fragile as RHP. I wouldn't be interested before he lines up at least 1 full season healthy.

Yep. They have to prepare at this point to pick at either 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10.

So of course they're going to do due diligence on guys in that range. Now 4 meetings indicates a lot of interest, if they met with a kid once, then maybe it isn't someone they want to follow up with.

That being said, we thought Wright and Cooley going to dinner meant something over Slaf.. but it was Slaf all the way for them, even before the dinners were scheduled.
I think the dinners were to just confirm that they didn’t want those guys, to see if they read them wrong in the interviews. Neither seems really genuine like Slaf.

I'm 100% fine with Tij Iginla if Habs don't have a chance to grab Celebrini, Demidov or Lindstrom.

Catton//Eiserman are a target's also, but I will be not in shock if they grab Iggy before them. Catton and Eiserman are really good, but Iginla have high offensive talent aswell but with two-way and hard working in his game. Underrated player. He is worth a top 5 pick easily for me. But that's me.

Doesn’t he hate the Habs with a passion?

Oh c'mon this board is melodramatic at this point, we win 1 against the Panthers and suddenly we're drafting Iginla.

How about we lose the next 7 and get out of there with Demidov + Additional Dach/Newhook forward.

Iginla is a very good player.

Everyone in 2017 put Nolan Patrick #1 or #2. Today everyone put the #4, Makar, #1.

I would consider trading down but Pelletier doesn’t move the needle at all for me, so I would not even consider that trade.
