Really happy with WPG recent meltdown. Could mean one of Basha, Hage, Sennecke, Boisvert or Parascak. Hope we don't trade that pick (unless it's for PIT 1st).

The higher it is, the less likely I think we trade it.

Especially if they have an opportunity to use it to trade up and grab someone like Eiserman or MBN who may be available in the teens.

Celebrini has injured the same shoulder twice, just a piece of glass and not worth considering for a top pick.
Catton was injured for quite a while when he was at Shattuck's, better not draft him as he's obviously injury prone.
Demidov had a bad knee injury to start the year, don't want to risk it with knees as he probably won't be able to skate after he turns 20.
Iginla missed a couple games with an LBI, probably has a prosthetic foot we don't know about.
Silayev looks like he's destined for busted knees too, the doctors seem to have put hinges in that allow them to extend both ways.

Hockey players get injured.

And Frank Selke tried to trade that Richard guy because he was injury prone before hitting 25 but nobody wanted him. Like Yoda would say: "short career he had".

For what it’s worth, McCagg has mentioned Demidov, Lindstrom and Yakemchuk as to who our scouts like the last few months.

But the problem with this draft class being so open from 2-10 (I’d argue to 13 even) is no matter who we take there’s going to be fans and there’s going to be people who aren’t fond of the pick. It’s very subjective as to who’s the best player after Celebrini right now

That's fine.

As long as it remains normal criticism and not death threat to the teenager and his family.

I’ve actually wondered if what Reinbacher went through would impact their decision of drafting another D this year with a high pick, not that a few deranged fans should dictate how you run your club

They didn't pick Wright (while drafting 1st OA in Montreal!) and Michkov when everyone was clamoring for it. I doubt they will pick a forward because morons on the internet will be mad about picking a defenseman.

In the words of Martin Lapointe himself : ''The fact that there are a lot of defensemen will perhaps cause some forwards to slide further than expected.'' .

They might like Yakemchuk but I would be highly doubtful they'd pick him. Especially since one of his issues is his feet, if there's one thing they'd be mindful of a defenseman in the top 10 is their skating ability.

The other thing being that he's stylistically very similar to Mailloux.

Dont think it changes anything. It would be amateurish as f***. If anything, they rightfully dont care about what we think or we would have one of wright or michkov.

Also, as a professional organisation, they are equipped to deal with the pressure that comes with making an unpopular pick.

As fans, i just feel its also our duty to raise the flag when things goes too far. Example : the Hitler/Reinbacher "meme". Ww2 caused multi generational trauma to folks living there. Its just not a thing to do, in a similar manner that we would not have tolerated extreme racist joke on Subban.

I wonder if the Habs draft another goalie in Jan Spunar later in the draft.

I don't see them as being in a rush to get him, but he has put up good numbers, they invited him to camp, or was it the prospect tourney? I forget which. He has good size at 6'3 and while goalies and goalie prospects don't carry a ton of value you can easily take a goalie drafted in the 4th, or 5th round and have that goalie worth a 2nd rounder by next draft and could use said goalie as a sweetener in a hockey trade.

No franchise can let that happen.

What should happen though is if there are death threats to players, player's families, etc....they should do everything in their power to locate them and press charges, no questions asked. Make sure everyone knows about it and give their assets some assurances that none of that garbage will be tolerated.

If they draft another goalie, I'd expect it to be a college or euro. Drafting an overager is not the best idea because their timeline is accelerated, it'd be better to have some other long term bets that can stay at that level for 3-5 years.

The skating concern is valid, though I will give Yakemchuk credit for his hands. He's one of the rare big D-men I've seen in this draft who demonstrates poise and craftiness with the puck.

Wish he were a better skater, but if a team thinks they can develop his defensive issues then he's a very intruiging asset to have, whether it be as a future Hab or a tradeable asset. I wouldn't go in this direction either, but hockey men might.

It's not possible to keep people from being dicks on the Internet. Every fanbase everywhere has crazy people. It's better to ignore stupidity than to call attention to it.

Plus he’s a redhead. We can’t have two on the team.

Well i have to agree.

In hockey we are some of the worst but baseball in the usa and soccer in europe can be quite f***ing crazy too.

I see Greentree has shot up a bit in your ranking. The skating doesn’t concern you?

It does, but there's a lack of real offensive players in this class that don't have the skating wart, or a production concern, or a size concern.

Where I have him now is where the bet on the size, tools, character and IQ is worth the gamble on the bad feet.

Catton, Iginla, Eiserman or Helenius are likely to be picking by Habs, if they don't move top 2.
