That Winnipeg pick is looking better and better. It would be great if a few more teams passed them (Leafs, Oilers and Preds). We would be picking 22nd if they do and the Jets don't make the Conference Finals.

At 22nd, we would definitely have at least a chance on a few good prospects.

Another naïf who thinks that Bobrov might draft Catton. No chance. They’ll take a D before they draft him.
Not true.

If Catton proves he can be a real difference maker and shows glimpses of superior skills in a way that could make him stand out from the lot, he will be picked top 5. If he falls just short of extraordinary talent, he will fall for lack of size to top10-15.

For the 3rd time, we can talk about Catton even if Bobrov don't take sub 6.0 players.

In 2018 I was all in for Quinn Hughes 3rd overall even if I knew that the Habs would not take him.

In my view thought...there is a bit more chance than Catton will be a member of the Montréal Canadiens than Macklin Celebrini....

..and I am not naïf if I want to talk about Celebrini as well....

Do we really know if he's lacking size at this point? The measurements are from last summer right?

I think we'll be fixed on this non-sense straight at the combine.

Certainly a realistic outcome...

Jets are sliding big time, and Nashville/Edmonton are real hot.

#22 OA for Monahan would be an incredible return.

I'd try to somehow get into the top 15ish if that draft, I really like the top end of the first round, less so afterwards. Could see a team like the Islanders be willing to trade down for NHL ready player (s) + WPG pick.

Montreal trades:

WPG's 1st (#24) + Avs 2nd + Harris (or any D prospect not named Hutson or Reinbacher)

to NYI for:

NYI's 1st (#13)

And then we draft:

#6 OA : Dickinson
#13 OA: Iginla or Catton or MBN or Helenius

My dream draft.

Then you have;

Slaf-Caufield-Suzuki
Catton/Iginla/etc-Dach-Newhook

As your top 6... And your D looks like:

Hutson- Reinbacher
Dickinson-Guhle
Xhekaj-Mailloux
Struble, Engstrom

Man.

Lindstrom is finally back from his injury, we'll see if he can solidify his spot or even improve on it with a solid playoff run. His team lost game 1 though.

Very curious how Silayev knee injury imapacts his final draft position - could have significant impact on who’s available at 6-8

I wonder if there would be intested from NYI for 13 for Matheson straight up.

All things being equal HuGo have a predisposed bias for Northeast US prospects - combine Habs need for high end goal scoring & youth development system… Eiserman without a doubt will be their guy @ 6-8 ….unless of course Billy Ryan says NO! :sarcasm:

Considering that HuGo have not drafted a single Northeast US forward prospect but have used a late 2nd on a dman and a 3rd on a goaltender I can confidently say that this in no way whatsoever creates a reasonable expectation or a continuation of a pattern that would suggest that Eiserman is definitely their guy. All 3 of their 1st round picks have come from Eastern Europe so if we are doing the geography based prediction game based on past precedence you should be betting on Helenius or MBN who are at least much closer geographically to the established target range

In all seriousness, they could very well draft Eiserman just as they could draft anyone commonly listed in the top 12. There is a tiny sample size of this management group's drafting archetype and we know so little about these players compared to what they know.

Contract length didn't stop Arizona from taking Simashev #6 last year, I doubt Silayev goes pass them.
I think Phx drafting But and Simashev last year makes it more appealing to them to grab Russians. The Capitals models proved that Russian talent work great especially when they're on the same team.

I feel like if they're second they'll take Demidov and probably have Silayev high on their rankings.

If Silayev and Simashev both hit, it would be something to have them on the same team during their peak.

I think both are very capable of being wingers at the next level. They’d be good insurance if Dach turns out injury prone.
People are starting to sleep on Eiserman, who is one of the best scorers in this upcoming draft. I see him developing into another Boeser. Maybe even better.

And who could complain about that outcome?
