Simple, pick Helenius or Demidov from 5 to 10, 1 of them will definitely be available with the quality of dmen in this draft, we could easily see 3 dmen in the top 5.

Habs need game breaking forward talent, those 2 are the most likely to have that in that range (regardless of size and how they fit in our current roster, that can always be tinkered with later).

If Eiserman drops you trade the picks you banked up and run to the podium. The NTDP U18 roster is terrible this year.
Nothing game breaking with Helenius.

personally i think Hughes leaked that to Lebrun in hope a GM would fall for it i really dont see a team offerering a 1st for Anderson

Have we ever heard of a GM doing something like that before, seems to me that sort of things would eventualy get out and could ruined a GM reputation for the rest of his career

explain how it would ruin Hughes career

GMs use the media in every single sport its nothing new

Well didnt think i have to explain tnis but......

Those kind of tactics find ways to get out eventualy, i dont think Hughes got the reputation he has by pissing false information to media when he was an agent, simply not his style imo

that would not ruin his career theres nothing wrong with using the media to up ur players value Bergevin once told the media he would never trade Subban and he was gone withing a month

you dont think a GM ever told the media theres a few teams interested in x player when in reality there was one or none interested

Those 2 exemple are different tho, in the MB case you can justified by saying you change your mine beceause the offer and the other example you are being vague with the ''interested'' part.

The one your mentioning is a clear lie , and i like to think that KH is more intelliigent than that

Demidov's signature being included in this "letter" is highly concerning and disappointing, even if obtained through means of coercion. Lending yourself as a propaganda tool for the Russian government is just a massive red flag

Heleniux, Yakemchuk and Boisvert seem to be overrated on this top 10.

Also thought Parekh was best skater in class, he's underrated at 10 if so.

Propaganda? Do you see endorsement for their goverments actions? They just want to play.

Repeating word for word Russian state officials is what I'd consider endorsement, yes. It's blatantly obvious that the players never wrote this letter, rather it came from the offices of the Russian Hockey Federation and published to the international audience as part of a wider propaganda offence to generate discussion in the West over the legitimacy of the international sanctions placed on Russia. Hockey is, and has always been an important political tool for the Putin regime, and this is no exception.

Yeah, every country sportswashes. If they can roll back the ban on Israel they can certainly roll it back on Russia.

No point punishing the players for what the regime is doing, that sets a very dangerous precedent.

Regardless, can't blame the players for wanting to play international hockey, wouldn't you?

Youre reaching. Russo-phobia is still well ingrained in you.

I'm sorry, but you really don't seem to understand the situation too well if you seriously think that what Russia is doing is somehow perfectly normal conduct that every nation (or any other nation) participates in. We're talking about a state that drugs 13-15-year old children with cancer medicine in order to bask in the glory that is international sports success (case Valijeva). A state that runs it's own dedicated doping program for years before finally getting caught, and then feigning ignorance. A state that spends tens of millions of dollars in both bribes and prize pools to placate international sports federations. Talking about Israel is completely irrelevant for hockey, and only further serves the purpose of Russian propagandists.

It's far more likely that the ban on international competitions will remain until the next decade rather than being lifted anytime soon. I don't blame the players for wanting to play international hockey, I only blame them for being willingly complicit in the aforementioned state propaganda.

When you run out of arguments...

It's actually incredibly relevant seeing as how the ban on Russia had nothing to do with doping (which, in the wise words of Nick Diaz, "Everybody's on steroids"), and everything to do with their aggressive military action against an area of a neighbouring country that they feel entitled to.

I used to care until I saw how we react differently when other ppl get slaughtered but dont align with our politicians povs, I could care less anymore about the whole Russia and Putin stuff.

Can't blame the players for wanting to play
