That’s why this draft is so intriguing. If you are drafting in the top 8-10, you’re getting an impact player who ever you are picking. And why trading our first would be a Bergevin like - level of incompetence.

Agree. F or D at 8-10, Habs will going to get a really really solid young player. Like I said before, drafting a another D will be very fine, Hughes can always make a trade like he did with Romanov. If Romanov can bring us a 13th overall pick, I think some D's we have, have potential to bring us a very good return.

My current list in order of preference for who the Habs choose. Went with a top-11 because that's the point where I feel the drop-off happens this year. But what an outstanding top-11 to choose from.

Celebrini
Demidov
Levshunov
Catton
Dickinson
Lindstrom
Eiserman
Silayev
Helenius
Buium
Parekh

For Habs perspective I'd rather have Tij Iginla than Silayev, but it's my preference. The rest, that's all players I want aswell and I will be very happy to grab one of them.

Its all part of good asset management.

That is why you always draft the best player available. It provides your organization with depth and greater options. You draft for asset value and and trade or use free agency to address organizational needs.

I also feel that while the Habs do have a deep D pool, the D available at the top of this draft are much higher quality than what we have currently in the system. If Reinbacher or Guhle gets pushed down to the 2nd pairing, you've got the makings of a very high-calibre D corps. Any quality players/prospects lost in the logjam can be dealt to fill needs up front.

You’re saying the unthinkable. But you’re right. Almost anyone we draft , forward or defenceman, will instantly become one of, if not the best, of our prospects.

Any chance Sacha Boisvert falls to the Winnipeg pick?

I'd be very happy to exit the first round with Demidov/Lindstrom + Boisvert.
Hughes will probably trade the pick like he did the last two draft (Dach and Newhook), no real point think who might be drafted with it.

By the time the Habs select, if forwards like Celebrini, Demidov, Lindstrom, and Eiserman are off the board, are you guys okay with Habs taking another D? Someone like Dickinson, Leshunov or Parekh.

Or do you prefer they still go with a forward when you see someone like Catton and Helenius are still on the board, among others?

Catton for sure. I don't see a scenario where all Dickinson and Levshunov are still on the board and those forwards are gone.

habs will be forced to take BPA which will turn out to be a D

No, they won't.. the defense are going high. The Habs will have a slew of good forward prospects to pick from.

Very solid chance.

Ive no issue taking a defenseman this year personally if Celebrini, Lindstrom are off board and that Demidov, for any reasons, is considered too risky. Not a fan of Eiserman or Catton, but I like Helenius alot.

I said it in the Monahan trade thread but I wouldn't be surprised if Hughes uses the Jets' pick to trade up if we end up picking in the 7-10 range.

I believe they won't want to miss out once again on the top forwards.

Demidov, Lindstrom or Iginla. One of these will be our pick in the top 10 imo.

If we keep the Winnipeg pick I'd really love Pulkkinen.

I mean, i love Tij Iginla as much as the best forward in this draft after Celebrini, Lindstrom and Demidov.

But i would take Silayev ainec. 6ft7 potential number one RD, i am not skipping on that except for Celebrini, Demidov or Lindstrom. (potential 1C and star offensive talent.)
