Someone here has been an advocate for it, don't remember who, but I'm also big on drafting Lindstrom and Yakemchuk with our two firsts (assuming/hoping that Tampa's pick is around 12-16th overall).

You get a giant 2C that can be a matchup nightmare and a future top 4 RHD, which we're lacking on the farm outside Rinzel.

Shore up a lot of holes with those picks and both guys are projected around those spots.
That’s my dream scenario provided no celebrini

To me, the Hawks position I think you package 2nds to get a falling player you love around 10. Levshunov Catton!?

Bob MacKenzie just came out with his top 80. Who are some 33-80 targets seeing as the Hawks have three picks in that range?

I’ve talked about Yakemchuk a bit and like him at that TB pick but @clydesdale line has been on him the most I think.

I mentioned them both the other day but I've been pumping Yakemchuk's tired for a long while now.

Yak is a safe bet

His defensive positioning kind of sucks, but he's got the tools and the ideal frame

D will improve over time

Yes of course there is an option to trade up to try to get one if the 3 RD afterxwe take Celebrini or Lindstrom if we draft at and#1 and #2 respectively...but if the TB pick is too much later (eg. 18-23) range and IF Celebrini,Lindstrom ,3LD +2RD +Catton+Eiserman+Helenius+Demidov all go off the board leaving just 1 of the 3 RD we would want ,that would be at #12...so if the TB pick is18th or maybe 19th maybe that team would move down to that spot and we movevupto 12 for a sweetener of our #34 and another future 2nd in 2025...but if asking that #12draft position team to move down to #23 or more later then the price goes probably higher (a 2nd future 2nd rounder) unless thatcteam wants to dump a contract we could take off theirvhands...

So maybe KD tries to move up in such a scenario...maybe Parekh falls to 12 as he is only 6'0 183 vs the bigger guys on RD.....6'2 198 Levshunov and 6'3 187 Yakemchuk....or maybe teams rank Yakemchuk at #12 and ge makes it there...However ...Right shot D are coveted by most teams...team draftibg at #12 may not want to pass on a potentiak#1RD ..

So trading up is not a slam dunk...also consider who good these 3 RDmen really are...Jaimie Drysdale is a RD who went 6th in round 1 of his draft..He put up far less goals and ponts even projected out close to the #of games Parekh or Yakemchuck will play barring injury in the season remaining...The are far more enticing prospects =likely superstar RD points and goal machines...Orobably Levshunov if he were in Jrs. for an OHL,WHL or QMJHL team, would also be putting up magical offensive points and goal stats too.

I would try to do it if one of the 3RD is there just out of the top ten ...but not at an overpay price IF there is a willing trade partner.

If we come out of this draft with Celebrini or Lindstrom + any one of these 3 potential impact RD ...that woukd be a couple for KD..

Try to make it so...but would not count on it ...too many teams covet TD with 1RD star potential..

We are stick with $9.5 as titular 1RD for 6 more seasons...maybe Rinzrl goes to 1RD 3xseasobscfrim now as we drop Jones into the 2RD role ...but how mich better IF we could put Parekh;Yakemchuk,or Levshunov as 2RD ,Rinzel as a 2 way 2RD and drop $9.5 to # 3
RD and just ask hinto be an even 5x5 dman (leave the attack offense to whichever RD named above we were able to draft if we can trade up....

1 disturbing thought:

Bettman wants to expand but ygat is 3-4 seasons from now ..whoever we draft atRD if we can trade up will not be in the show next season...maybe in 25/26...if the NHL expands in 27/28 season (ie .expansion draft summer 2027)...so that gives the RD we would trade to get 2 playing seasons in the NHL before the expansion drFt which means we must also protect or lose that RD to expansion!

Remember S Jones still must be protected (NMC)as he would still be under contract 2more seasons.
They could protect 4D (Vlasic,Jones,Rinzel and the RD we trade up for using the TB pick in 2924 Draft)=Protect 8+1 goalie or protect 10 of any position mix they want ...so we would lose possibly EDM or Allen maybe a D we draft in
2nd round 2024 or in the 2025 draft.
If we go to all this trouble to trade up for an ekite RD with a better ceiling than Rinzel we are not exposing that guy or Rinzel to expansion poachers ..

Again $9.5 and his NMC is tge cause for this issue of concern..we would gladly expose him if we coukd...but we cannot ...so KD must think this through and pkan accordingly.

Grabbing Yakemchuk with the Tampa 1st would be a miracle. He's one of the elite 6 defensemen in this draft class.

I don't think we'll get him, but Zayne Parekh fills a huge need for the Hawks. Right-shot defender that can run a power-play. We'll pick a bit too early to get him.

Igor Chernyshov and Bransegg-Nygard make a lot of sense for our 2nd pick. Bigger forwards that are well rounded

I wouldn’t say low offensive upside. He’s not going to drive the bus offensively, but he’s going to win pucks, push the pace, and finish plays. The type of guy you want on Bedards wing for the next 10 years
Think there are guys with higher upside that can finish passes from elite players is all. We already have Oliver Moore, who is .. not going to drive the bus offensively, win pucks and push the pace.

Certainly depends on where that pick ends up though.

if we go with a forward he needs some size. bedard, nazar, moore, reichel and kurahsev are all league AVG or less. on a side note. what happened to taylor raddyseh. who would you resign for next year. blackwell. pitlick, sandford R johnson, entwhistle, guttman Boris, anderson Raddyseh. part of getting better is having a NHL bottom 6. alot of the above are not. for me it would be blackwell, pitlick, sanford, guttman and Boris. would let the others walk. most of the guys I would let walk have Arb rights so will be over paid. IMO. they are all league min level players.
