That's what I'm baffled with as well. He could've easily just slid there and avoided any contact. I get that he may not have known exactly where the 1st down marker was there, but it seems like a rather unnecessary risk taken by a player that more than anyone in the NFL should be looking to avoid contact at all costs.

Just sucks all around as he's such a good young player. Unfortunately, he probably really needs to consider retirement at this point...or whatever the equivalent of LTIR is for the NFL.

Anyone know what his financial situation is? Assuming he has more than enough to retire and live comfortably the rest of his life, though it's also understandably tough to walk away when he could seemingly be a star in this league. Hopefully if he does decide to hand 'em up he can find another career in the NFL, maybe in broadcasting.

He just signed a massive deal in the summer worth 200M+ the guarantees are the only thing he'll get if he walks away which are still pretty high the last time I looked at it but the Dolphins owner will probably fight him/insurance for awarding the whole deal to Tua.

Correct me if I'm wrong anyone who knows the CBA/stuff better but I saw that stuff circulating Twitter/NFL reporters lol

Depends on the ownership. From what I understand the Colts didn't ask Luck for anything back. The Lions fought Calvin Johnson.

Ugly ass win, defense settled down after the early hiccups. Sucks to lose Johnson for the year. Get ready for the home opener and a tough matchup v NE with a defensive game on Thursday

the Giants finding yet another creative way to lose a game.

And while NO will not ring up 40+ every week they are making it look very easy so far. 35 in the first half in Dallas is nothing to sneeze at. Kubiak has made Carr look very good. I am curious if they can score easily against a better defense like Philly.

Titans could have made that game look ugly in the first half if Levis didn't try playing street ball with that wacky lateral. Rodgers is still getting back to speed clearly, but he can still sling it when it counts. The TD to Breece and the long passes to Garrett and Williams were beautiful balls.

Feel awful for JJ. He's a hell of a player and person, hope he can come back strong.

It’s criminal that they scheduled them 3 games in 11 days to start the season. You can almost take it to the bank that they have more injuries this week.

Most likely, the good thing though is this is a home game and NE has to come to us and it'll be the opener. Hopefully no memes of Rodgers with the flag this year. Trying to figure out how I can get to MetLife after work on Thursday from the city because I definitely want to see this game lol.

Look at those Jets fans fill that stadium and show all that enthusiasm. They are a fantastic fanbase. All those years of, incompetence, inadequacy, ineptitude, incongruity, inanity, insanity, and incredulity and yet they keep coming back for more. Every season ticket holder deserves a medal and home visit from Joe Namath to offer a personal apology and a kiss.

If that was any other team besides maybe Miami and/or Buffalo, I would've felt bad trying to pile it on late there but f*** NE for actually ruining my football fandom since I was like 8 :laugh:Great game from ARod and can't complain much more about everything else. Hopefully the news on Moses is good tomorrow or this week. 10 days til Denver, get everyone healthy and try to beat some of these teams up on the schedule till that big MNF game v Buffalo in a few weeks. Also didn't have McDonald having 5.5 sacks so far on my bingo card but keep the holdout going Reddick if you want lol.

/end rant

Probably the most loyal fanbase in this league besides maybe Eagles/Bills as a whole and those 2 teams have been way better in recent history than the Jets.

Aaron Rodgers is something else, man. He isn’t human. The way he picks defenses apart is beyond impressive.

Can’t do anything but smile right now. And rub it in the face of my New England wife and in-laws of course.

Hopefully the line protects him and we stop the run. Those two things happen and this could be a very special year. I think they are just scratching the surface on offense.

They dominated New England, but somehow I still came out of that game kinda meh. Rodgers looked great, but I’m not sure you can say the same for the offense as a whole. They had some moments running the ball. Hopefully they just need to keep building chemistry, especially the Wilson/Rodgers connection. And let’s hope Moses isn’t out long term.

The Patriots are baaaad.

There's always things to work on. For instance, that 2 minute drill offense before the half seemed really disorganized. And there's clearly an issue with getting plays in at times on offense because we had to spend 2 timeouts in the 3rd quarter in almost consecutive plays.

That said, this was the 3rd game in 11 days which is a brutal schedule and I think this is the best the team looked. Yes, the Pats are horrific offensively but their defense is pretty strong and it was nice to see Rodgers pick them apart and hold onto the ball for 40 of 60 minutes. And it was nice to see the defense feast on an inferior opponent as they should.

I’m with you. I almost lost my shit when Saleh burned those two timeouts to avoid delay of games. The second one was on first down and in the red zone, like why burn that TO in the first five minutes of the second half? Fully expected the game to get close and bite us in the ass. Saleh still sucks by the way, and when the games start to matter that stuff is going to matter.

They’re going to have to bring pressure the rest of the year. That rush four and bring pressure game from last year just isn’t going to work without JJ and Reddick.

Miami is probably cooked without Tua, so if you guys win the games you're supposed to win there's no reason the Jets can't grab a wildcard spot.

I still have major concerns over the durability of that offensive line and Rodger's immobility, I think against a quality pass rush that offense will get eaten alive. But we'll see.

There's a four game there's a 4 game stretch coming up where the Jets have to play BUF, PIT, and HOU. There's also the Vikings game, which is is being played in the UK so something weird will definitely happen (also Sam Darnold Revenge Game!). I think if they go into their BYE at 6-5 or better they'll be in decent shape.
