Looked like a very pro Padres crowd. What was the ratio of Dodgers fans?

Definitely fewer Dodger fans than for a regular season game at Petco. The sexy headline was that the Padres had restricted ticket sales via area code, but the majority of tickets had been snatched up by season ticket holders before it got to the general public. I'm sure if the Dodgers had been the ones up 2 games to 1 that a few of the Padres fans would have let more tickets slip into the secondary market.

My main group chat has gotten a little insufferable this week between my Padres/Dodgers buddies who are trying to 'top' each other with who can be more negative about their team.

I'm actually very happy with how the Yankees won this series. I think playoff baseball usually is (or should be) more of a grind, and every game of this series was just that. I don't know if they can handle the middle of the order hitting inconsistently (especially Judge of course), but if the pitching can hold up and they can get timely hitting the way they have, they can win those tight games.

Yeah Padres support has been nothing short of fantastic in recent years. Yeah I didn't go to the games but, Phillies fans had little to no presence at Citi Field in the post season and not as many Mets fans made it into Philly. I live in the middle of New Jersey. So I got bragging rights!

I wonder if the Yankee game will overlap next Saturday with the Devils home game at 7pm vs Caps.

Mets and dodgers dont play on Saturday. Do you think the Yankee game, played in Detroit or Cleveland, would start at 1pm, 5pm or 8pm based on your experience?

Todays G5 Tigers Guardians was scheduled for 1pm start but was pushed to 8pm due to rain.

Reverse that last part - today’s game was supposed to be at 8 but got pushed up to 1 to beat the rain.

I think there’s zero chance they don’t put a LCS game in East Coast prime time if it’s the only game that day.

Is this your first real exposure to baseball? Did you follow it while growing up in Europe?

First season i followed in NYC was 2023 one, so this is my 2nd season

I was back in Europe for 11 months and watched the afternoon starts and usually all highlights, just like with the Devils. I do love baseball and pretty much watch all Yankee games.

We play Finnish baseball, a variation based on the US version of the game

I do think a subway series would be the most interesting world series.

Yeah I'm bias, but the Mets are the best story going but them playing Cleveland isn't sexy or interesting at all
I just dont wanna see the story where Dodgers beat Mets and then the Yankees. Thatd be terrible for the NYC area.

Somehow the Mets are favorites all over the place in this series. I think they can win too but interesting to see. The Mets are favored in the NCLS but the Dodgers have better odds to win the World Series. Pretty funny to see.

That Mets game was an abomination. The whole Met nation waiting for something nice and that pitching decision went terribad.....

The batting wasn't much better, but they had 2 to 3 opportunities to get a run rally going. Winker screwed up a chance for 1st and 3rd no outs. A couple other guys bombed at the plate with some timely chances to climb back in at 3-0 or 6-0

I hope today is a return to normal.....

Im feeling really good. Dodgers have a thin pitching staff and the Mets have 3 straight days to expose this. Game one was an anomaly in comparison to the normal. LGM!
I'll admit to being disappointed that Kershaw is almost certainly going to retire with less than 300 wins.

There'll never be another 300-game winner period unless baseball radically changes in some way or another.
I find that sad. I get that it's the only way to keep modern pitchers healthy is to limit the innings and adhere to pitch counts and rest days but I am old enough to have watched Guidry's 25-3 season unfold in real time. There were few NY sports seasons better in my lifetime. Maybe Gooden's 1985 season was at that level?

Here's another. Ferguson Jenkins, 267 complete games. How many pitchers will even START 267 games in their career given 5-man rotation? It would take almost 9 seasons without missing any starts.

I remember Fergie Jenkins but had no idea he completed that many games. The relief pitcher has been a thing as long as I can recall so that's really surprising to me.
