Kind of sucks to be Arizona
They only have themselves to blame. They were up 8-0 over the Brewers last weekend and they lost 10-9. That was the difference. I've lived those losses which makes this first game mean so much more. We never win these kinds of games in these big spots.

And I'm just so happy for this Mets team. This was one of the most fun regular seasons I've experienced. I'm just so damn happy they made the playoffs because they earned it so much. And for Lindor to be the hero in the end.. It never works out like this for us.

that was the single greatest regular season game I've ever watched as a mets fan.

this team has the special sauce I swear.. it's insane they gotta play today. I can't imagine how emotionally drained they are from that

pete rose dead at 83
Somehow I remember him playing when I first got into baseball. I was a HUGE baseball fan as a kid, much bigger than hockey at that time. That probably changed around 12-14 years old, and baseball hasn't aged as well with me. Though it's aged way better than football or basketball, which I haven't followed either of in decades and decades now.

I remember when he came out and pushed the umpire when he was the Reds manager, and he got suspended for a pretty long time. Was it a month or two? I only watched that game because it was against the Mets.

It was f***in crazy. It was one of the funniest things I had seen in baseball at the time as a pretty young kid.People were throwing trash on the field. It looked like a wrestling skit. I often times thought Pete Rose himself made that a worked shoot wrestling angle. And we all know he loved wrestling. I remember when he was choke slammed by Kane three years in a row at Wrestlemania some years later.

I'm surprised he wasn't eventually reinstated at some point in the last 35 years. The guy who banished him wound up dying like a week later.

As a Yankees fan, I have no skin in it lmao. But the magical run transcends this week. It’s been something to watch. The Grimace era is stuff of legends

Yeah I'm just joking around, if I was that confident in my not actual abilities of affecting outcomes of games I'd be a professional gambler lol

You couldn't ask for a worse 8th inning.

Maton has been good this season but that was weak sauce. Chourio killed us on the 3rd pitch on his first and last at bat.

Should have kept Garrett or Stanek in an extra inning. Stanek seemed unhittable so far.

This is why Mets fans are soooo jaded.

Admittedly, I've barely followed the Mets this season and am not at all familiar with Maton, but I was yelling at the TV once he was brought in as the two pitchers before him (who I think only got 1 inning each) were doing just fine. Whoever pitched the 7th inning had a 1-2-3 inning, so I just don't get putting in someone new after they've only pitched one inning with no issues, unless it's the 9th and you're going to your closer.

Seems like you're rolling the dice with the more guys you bring in that one of them is going to be nervous or just off.

I also see that MLB is using the same ad technology as the NHL for the ad behind the batter's box, resulting in grainy & distracting outlines and glitches around the batter, catcher and umpire.

How the hell is there not more pushback against this stuff and is it really worth a little bit of extra money to now have a distorted product out there? This technology is clearly not ready yet, but leagues seem to have no problem throwing it out there anyway.

It probably does nothing but any time I get a survey from sports teams I put in there that I specifically don't buy anything from anyone who puts annoying ads on there, I've included in the surveys the digital ads, the helmet ads and the jerseys ads.

As a sporting nation most people just accept whatever, the main board is a perfect example of it in the threads about helmets and jerseys ads with so many people who said "who cares you can barely notice it"

Pete shouldn't be brought back. He is just going to get worse as time goes on into his 30s. Maybe he hits 40 HR again but he is basically all or nothing right now.

Look they can win without him.

This is getting away from us.:(

Gonna take some super heroic at bats and the bullpen is greatly comprised.
