I mean I would say the odds are definitely in his favor but there are like 4 LD that could feasibly take that spot and I would say he is in the lead but Kaiser, EDM are right there with him. He's got the inside track, but I wouldn't call it a lock.

Regardless, Vlasic has played only 21 more games than him at the NHL level and isn't on the list, because he is an absolute lock.
Yeah, for better or worse, Korchinski is the incumbent in the spot, so his spot has to be "taken" (and he also likely gets preferential treatment due to invested draft capital) rather than a true "battle" for the spot.

Health pending, probably looking at opening night:

Vlasic-Jones
Korchinski-Murphy
Martinez-Brodie
Phillips (out of waiver-exempt)

Kaiser (waiver-exempt)
Del Mastro (waiver-exempt)
Crevier (barely waiver-exempt)
Allan (waiver-exempt)

Korchinski could get sent down if he is struggling though and replaced with Kaiser or Del Mastro. Phillips could also easily ride the waiver bus, but he's someone you can easily shuffle in and out of lineup/press box.

I think it's fine that it's arbitrary. There is a world where KK/Reichel/etc are in the AHL, they definitely aren't a lock to be full-time NHLers, and therefore they're still prospects.

We are considering Korchinski and Reichel as prospects?? Reichel I was like maybe..but Korchinski? He played the entire year with the Hawks...
I'm usually on the same side as you with this argument but with Korchinksi I still consider him a prospect. 19 is real, real, young for a defenseman and they didn't have the option to send him to the AHL last year.

I'd bet he spends time in Rockford this season. He didn't look awful like some here like to say but he's got a lot of growing to do for sure to be an effective top 4 guy.

Reichel's got 99 career NHL games I think there's still room for growth there as well

Poor Arty.

First it was the pre and post-draft bluster with Demidov. Now he can't bask in the glow of the HF #1 Hawk prospect vote due to Korch.

Neither Korchinski nor Reichel are prospects anymore

By the logic here Bedard is still prospect
I mean if by some people's criteria, then Bedard should be on the list. He's played even less NHL games than Korchinski has. Winning the Calder shouldn't change that.
My logic was that Bedard isn't playing AHL/junior games and others have a chance to/aren't roster locks. By that criteria my logic should be sound on who I included.

If people feel like having them ruins the poll then delete this and someone else remake.

Korchinski is still a prospect. He's going to be in Rockford.

Reichel has arguably graduated out of prospect territory, into bust territory. But if people want to hold on to hope, you can leave him in, and he can get a generous 15th place vote.

Reichel will be fine. He does however need to be locked in this place or similar for a week or so

I also think it's funny because it's an open poll that some of the people posting in this thread about what constitutes a prospect and what doesn't haven't even voted. Conscientious objectors maybe?

Count me as one who feels like KK shouldn't be on here.

Having said that, thank you @TLEH for being the first to step up with these polls. I might not agree with your view of who is a prospect, but I respect you for taking the time to post this poll.

And it's Lev for me. I wish I felt more secure in projecting his upside, but he's still a bit higher for me than anyone here, including KK.

If the answer is not Levshunov than Davidson royally ****ed up this draft. I like our prospect pool but nobody has done anything thus far to show they're head and shoulders above the rest therefore defacto number 1 spot should go to highest pick.

Also while I think KK doesn't technically qualify as a prospect. I think given how little experience he has relative to much older guys I view him as more of a "prospect" than a guy like Allan or Reichel.

I went with Nazar, simply because I haven't seen Lev in the Hawks system yet, though he'd probably be the #1 prospect by definition too. Weird situation. Ask me in 6 months.
