Leafs Home Board
Thompson traded for peanuts.
Sadly Leafs didn't have a 3rd round pick in 2024 nor 2025 to make that move even if they wanted to.

Already traded away by past GM moves. Leafs still paying the price for bad past signings,

Noel Acciari
2024 2nd round pick (TOR - #56 - Lukas Fischer)

Nick Ritchie
2025 2nd round pick (TOR) [Conditional]*

Sam Lafferty
2026 2nd round pick (TOR)

Colin Blackwell
2024 3rd round pick (TOR - #88 - Kim Saarinen)

Kirill Slepets (Signing Rights)
Ilya Lyubushkin ($687,500 retained - 50%)
2025 3rd round pick (TOR)

Also no 2nd round picks in next 3 straight years, until the recent BT trade back to re-acquire one.

Leafs simply have no currency left to make any of these types of trades.

I already answered this but this is why the Leafs needed to be more aggressive to get more picks and shed cap space. This is what being pro active and with an ounce of asset management.

Tre trades those two 3rd rounders at the deadline

I don't mind a bit of a reach in the 1st round but trading the second this year seems silly.

If Leafs just get 2 d man at free agency and call it a day that's not great.

If they think they're only that far off from getting further in the playoffs they are delusional.

It's been so many years of this now.

Really interested to see what their strategy is now with a new GM.

3 picks in 7th. round.

Kaberle 8th. rounder?
Well if that is the logic we should trade all our high picks to draft late because we got lucky on a few picks.

players making the NHL odds get worse every round down.
It’s an overall crapshoot.
IMHO I would trade all my picks from the 4th rd down to use them to move up.

Thompson traded for peanuts.

I'd be hesitant with goalies in front of a D like Vegas/Boston, I'm curious how Ullmark and Thompson do on their new teams.

I still like the trade for Thompson just due to the cap hit this year.

Shockingly, for the first time ever, you are wrong.

Treliving traded the 3rds needed for that trade.

2024 used for Edmundson who sucked.
2025 used for Lub who was good.

Please edit your post so you aren't lying.

Is it a surprise that Kiviharju is still on the board? He was interviewed on the draft show last night. I knew he would drop but to the 4th round?

CAR trades late 3rd gets a high 3rd in 2024 from CHI. Leafs trade late 2nd, gets late 2nd in 2025. CAR also got better value than Tre yesterday on their trade down. Joke.

Edmundson & Lyubushkin were well worth the price and played well. Goaltending and scoring were the reasons why the leafs lost round one.

Edmundson absolutely sucked, not sure what everyone saw, but the 3rd pairing was terrible and he didn't help the PK at all.

Lub was great.

I'd rather Thompson this year over either.

There was also a 6th + 5th in those trades.

You edited your post and are still lying... can you show that Tre traded the Anaheim pick that would have been needed to beat out that offer?

Can you also say "past and current GM"

Then can you put the Lub trade under Treliving and delete all the Dubas trades because most of them are irrelevant.

The lengths some people will go.........

I kept being told the middle picks that were traded this year (that could have got Thompson) were useless and no one cared about them.

Boillard, still being there, is a bit mad.

He's a near 1st round talent IMO. Awesome skater and puck carrier

Treliving traded the manufactured 3rd rounder from the Engvall trade to NYI move. ie .. Engvall = Edmundson

Dubas traded 2 X 2nd 2022 & 2023 and Leafs own 2024 3rd pick for Giordano and Colin Blackwell.

Well…that issue has been present for several yrs. And Adding those two plus Bert,Reaves and Domi didn’t help .

So his moves failed and they are all free agents now.

Odds are he is going to overpay for a 35 yr old too July 1st
