His last 3 years as director of scouting in Colorado he basically got MacKinnon as the consensus generational #1 Overall pick, and 0 other significant players?

Butcher was decent for a season but cratered after that

I see 7 NHL players in 3 drafts Even if it was a cup of coffee for a few I recognize every name on that list. When have the Oilers outside of the first round ever got 7 NHL players in 3 years?? His record looks better than anyone the oilers have had in years

What’s your metric? A guy who plays a couple games in a single NHL season? Yeah, Oilers have got that.

Let's just hope Pracey's first year with Avs is like his first year for the Oil:

I know nothing about this guy, but he's got an anomalous history: converted from D, was playing junior A, and then played the heaviest minutes on a memorial cup team as a 17 yr old. I like all that. He's toolsy and grades high in IQ and compete, so I'm all in. I didn't know his name before he was drafted but he sounds perfect lol

Also, Mark Hunter. Even if the Oilers scouts loved the player, how do you go after it like this, unless you feel like you know. It's a pretty wild trade, Jackson essentially bet on the Oilers being first lol. I feel like this tipped that Hunter is going to be announced in some capacity soon.

This is such a dumb trade. You just traded away next years asset they could have used at the deadline. Also the only way this isn't trading a higher pick for a lower is if they somehow win the cup next year and than the pick number is the same.

A year ago was playing jr.B, hope he keeps this development curve up. if he makes the nhl I see a jerret stoll / hyman type

If he continues to develop he’s worth more than pick#32 by next years deadline, also I’m pretty sure oilers can trade next years first leaving flyers with the 2026

That’s a really really low bar.
My point being if I as an Oiler fan recognize those guys from the Avs who I don’t cheer for and don’t really know much about, it means they did something to stick out in my memory. I doubt the same can be said about some of the guys listed as rebuttals. Benson? You think anyone outside Edmonton remembers Tyler Benson? Marincin? Brandon Davidson? Our drafting outside of the first round has been horrific forever. This guy seems like he knows a thing or two about later round picks.

Leon welcoming the new guy nothing but class. Sure sounds like a guy with one foot out the door like some keep saying

Then why did he get fired from Colorado if he was doing a good job?

At the end of the day he might be an improvement but his history is not good. Just cause you recognize a name doesn’t mean they are a good player or pick.

All that said, props to the kid, hope he does well next year.

So your barometer on whether or not he's a good scout is if you recognize the names? Not if they actually turned into good NHLers?
