2024 Coaching/Front Office Thread: You Can Take Your Seat Hot to Go

Would be a terrible move to bring in BB. You need to win in order for players to endure that NE style. Don't see that being the case in LV, with their roster and lack of QB.

Talking to him would still be a good idea. He can provide you with his assessment of the roster and the key holes of the team. But, I don't see him as the right fit with where they are.

$10 million buyout if he leaves before June 1st, not sure if the NFL is part of that.

I figure Bill took the UNC job so he'd at least be coaching somewhere in 2025, but if the right job comes up hell happily return to the NFL.
Well he already has lasted longer there than he did with the Jets

The cynic in me wonders if this is him trying to create some financial leverage from a cheap ass team like the Bears or maybe Jags.

However, if true, then that's a surprise for me. He's going to wait and wait and wait and then sign up for that owner and no QB? NFLN sure is pushing it though.

Vrabel signed with NE, so that one is off the table.
Down to CHI and JAX with the best QB, then NO. LV and NYJ don't have one. Still a few days away from knowing McCarthy's fate in Dal as his contract is due to expire in about a week or so.

If there isn't a situation he loves, he can always decide to return to Detroit. But, in terms of what could be on the horizon in 2026? Who knows....

Very rare to get everything. Alignment with owner/GM, money, QB, cap situation.

They’re not being very subtle. Their Rooney Rule interviews were Pep Hamilton and Byron Leftwich.
The Rooney Rule also doesn't apply to certain powerful owners. When Jerry picks his new white coach, he never has cared about complying with the Rooney Rule.

The truth is Jerry hates interviewing coaches at all. He picks his next guy and hires him without ever doing a real search. This is mostly why McCarthy is back. Jerry doesn't seem to have anyone available that he's wanted as a coach, so he's going the easy route of keeping McCarthy because a coaching search would be a lot of work.

On one hand, the rule is there for a reason. On the other, there’s no point in forcing owners to interview someone they never intend to hire.

Anybody want Todd Bowles? I'd like to see the Bucs actually win something again, and there are plenty of other names I'd hope they'd consider after, with any luck, firing Bowles asap.

New Orleans has had some really bad coaches lately with Rizzi and his predecessor Dennis Allen. Shame Sean Payton stood them up because they've been very bad since.

Hiring McCarthy would change all that.
