Does he burn the first year of his rookie contract if he play with us (at the end of season)?

Having him for 3 more years on a rookie deal is far better than him playing 2-3 games at the end of this season.
If Demidov were to play games with the Habs this season it would need to be 10+ games for it to burn a year since he's under 20 years old and his ELC would slide otherwise.

It’s because I don’t believe Rottenberg is that stupid to make those decisions. A coach in the Italian or Austrian pro hockey league is not that stupid. Im not joking. This is not dry humor. No one is that stupid. Sorry.
Russia is a completely dysfunctional country. Logic does not apply. Even more so for oligarchs.

Oligarchs are similar to American billionaires: lucky psychopaths. The very worst people scrambled for money, and some of them ended up with a lot. They aren’t talented, they aren’t smart, they were willing to do anything for money, along with many, many others, and they just happened to end up winning the pile.

Pretty much by definition they have no ethics, but they don’t have positive qualities either.

Don’t expect logic or intelligence.

I think the more critical part is the 40 games where the RFA year kicks in. That's not happening so I'm content. I value having one more RFA year at the back end of the team rights vs the 3 or 2 year ELC. That extra RFA year during his prime is massive. Especially if there is an expansion draft in what 2 years maybe? This actually saved the Leafs in the Vegas draft with Nylander. He was exempt. Never know how this plays out but better to be on the conservative side to keep options open.

Is anybody surprised at how Demidov's season is going so far? Seems to be in line with what I expected. KHL messing around with his ice time but he's still performing where they are forced to play him. He's ahead of the curve in terms of maturity. We all knew the skill/skating was there but his maturity was a question mark for me as a 18/19 year old switching from a development league to the KHL.

Demidov might be the only one who can pass Suzuki on the production side of things. Should be interesting to monitor as we move forward in time.

How much time have you spent living in Russia again?

He's a bigger Lane Hutson with a better shot has a forward.

I remember when I was worried about Demidov's size last year (was hard to find out his true height/weight). Once I seen the height/weight near the draft, my concerns went out the window.

Demidov is a complete forward. Only thing holding him back is his will power to overcome challenges. That part is hard to predict but it appears he is on a great track.

Every player in the top 6 missed significant amount of games due to injury except Demidov

Haven't followed him that much this year and that sucks. Iginla was very close to Demidov for me and I was a big fan of Iggy's game. Still love that we took Demidov but going to certainly interested to see how he turns out.
