"Something is fishy, if Demidov is as good as we think and has no attitude problems, why is he getting benched ? He's way better than many players on the roster. It's suspicious, SKA must have a reason. Are you telling me that they would rather lose games, than play one of their best players ? It makes no sense."
No idea what you are talking about. They are trying to get Demidov to extend. Why they let Michkov go when they had him signed to a 3 year contract is the mystery.

Indeed, it's well known that the best way to keep someone is to bench him for no apparent reason.

Poor Ivan 😂

Hughes, save our boy, he's getting bullied... :sarcasm:

Thank God Demidov is that good he will be a superstar regardless of the BS he has to put up with this year
I was thinking of that... it sure sucks that Demidov isn't playing as much as we hoped. But in the grand scheme of things... if the expectation for this year was for him to transition into pro hockey, then they were absolutely met. He moved from russian junior one year to burning one of the top senior team in the world with inconsistent ice time and almost no PP time. That's an amazing result just by itself. We now know his game transition (well!) and he will be ready for the NHL and won't need to spend time in the AHL. Just having this settled is a great thing.

They let Michkov go, stop falling for propaganda. Until it happens or doesn’t happen there’s no point getting riled up.
You're not wrong, but we were saying the same damn thing about SKA f***ing around with his icetime and pressuring him to sign a contract in russia.

His assist is even more impressive
His assist is filthy. At first I wasn't sure he hasn't just drop the puck.

Don't be ridiculous. He would get more ice time if he signed. Of course only a mental mdget like the SKA coach would think that strategy would succeed.

Is it not just the opposing player swiping the puck against Demidov’s skate? Deflects to teammate?
That is exactly what happens

I understand and respect why SKA isn't play Demidov. It makes sense to not give prime ice time the teenager who leaves next year. It's just SKA or Moscow that would act this way.

Michkov terminated his own contract, which one can do per KHL rules.
The buyout fee was reportedly around $1 million which of course Philadelphia paid.
AFAIK, Demidov never initiated a buy out - and the window is closed to do so.

Philadelphia is not allowed to pay for a buyout but I am sure they did. But that has nothing to do with Demidov being benched, Presumably he is being penalized every time he refuses to reup with SKA.

It’s likely part of it, but not all.

Like I previously said, if Rotenberg’s main objective is to penalize Demidov for not re-upping, in no parallel universe would Demidov currently be on the National Team, let alone wearing the C for a game.
Not happnin.

They did it b

Because they knew his intentions were to play in NA, thus SKASP got trade value at the time. Besides HCS is not good and Mitchkoff wanted more time on ice. Hope this helps.

Michkov was never traded. He was loaned. They intended to loan him again if he didn't make the Flyers.

So that wasnt it but also no way of knowing why they did what they did and seemingly wouldnt play him again this year. How they handle Demidov is stupid so they are just stupid

Its a violation of the CBA for the Flyers to pay that fee.

Michkov's agent fronted the fee at the Flyers's behest. Loophole

Sitting Pezzetta is the biggest mistake according to some sources............ Darren Dreger.
Google is really pushing those takes, along with some really small, shrill hockey sites. All part of stoking division and stupidity, I suppose, or the ad rates are crazy high.

If Michkov is actually as good as so many are saying, and there's no attitude issues, why did SKA not keep him around? Why did they ship him off to Sochi? Why did they let him out of his contract an entire two years early? Nothing makes sense except for the "bad attitude" theory. No team, even Rotenberg's SKA, lets a guy touted this highly to walk away from that many years of team control. Their handling of Demidov makes it clear how they treat players they value, so they clearly didn't value Michkov.
I suspect it’s similar in both cases. If the player doesn’t want to sign they don’t play him. Better to lose s guy who wasn’t given a chance then have the rookie of the year go to the nhl.

The Mitchkov change from 3 years to 1 year was interesting, though. It may diminish the Russian factor a bit.

Can't wat until he's setting up plays like on the Habs next year and we get to watch Dvo miss the open net by a mile over and over!
Which is why you dgaf if he's a rookie or not Nick here is your new RW.
Train him up into potentially becoming a good center while he's with you.
