Yes, I know that, were you expecting Silayev to have some offensive upside? He may, I'm not sure how much, but I expect that Yakemchuk would have a much higher offensive ceiling than Silayev which is why I expected Yakemchuk to go higher. Eliasson IMO will likely end up as strickly a defensive defenceman, although I don't know that for sure either. What I do know is that both will likely protect their teammates & stand up for themselves & be tough to play against.
Yakemchuk has a lot more offense than Silayev and Silayev has a lot more defense than Yakemchuk

Everytime opposing players enter our zone Eliasson will be saying " go ahead make my day"

Maybe it's just me but I feel if Elick or Badinka was still on board, Sens absolutely would have picked one of them. Both of them fit the Sens style and are actual RHD with potential. But with both gone, the Sens probably decided to say f*** it and go way off board.

Yeah, I hope we focus on the forwards next year. We really need to add a blue chip forward to Stutzle/Tkachuk.

We're also missing that selke candidate up front that will shut down the opposing team's offense that every cup champion has.

There's still pieces to add to our puzzle.
Pinto is about as good defensively as any young forward in the league.

If Eliasson is another Kleven that's a really good 2nd round pick. I don't think he has as good puck skills but he skates really well for his size and he is even more mean. It's a long term commitment but I'm glad he is going to college at a good program. They'll work on his skill development.

Not who I would have taken there. If they had traded down and drafted him that would have been fine for me.

100 percent. It's too bad both went before their pick.

Its kind of funny they loved this guy and didn't take Silayev who is virtually a sure bet to play in the NHL as soon as he wants to come over.

And then passed on Pulkkinen at 39.

The kid they took may very well turn out to be a beast of an NHL player but the two guys above are a few steps closer to being that.

A plus is he is he is supposed to head to the NCAA U Michigan for 25/26 and has another year to develop in Sweden before that

Russian factor is my guess. Pretty hard to spend a draft pick on a kid you haven't seen live. Have to be quite the risk taker to do that....and have great job security.

This one would feel better if he was a third round pick honestly. Feels like the odds are more of a long shot here but with the league obviously trending towards big defenders it's not a bad pick from an asset management perspective. I think there were better options on the board but they have a type and this fits.

I love that he's going NCAA and Michigan specifically, that should really help with the development of skills he currently lacks (assuming scouting reports are reasonably accurate).

Remember, the goalie passed the puck better than Kleven, and magically after 2 years of development, Kleven could actually make a breakout pass.

There is hope, yet!

Darn it, I had high hopes for this draft. Let me know when things are going better for them, it’s been 7 years without playoffs

Our dream player today is Chris Tanev and this guy does that.
No one should be dreaming of Chris Tanev. This just shows how warped people's desires get on July 1

Right! I’m going to completely change my mentality and just grab some Sens pompons and mindlessly cheer “Go Sens Go” until they win the Cup.

I said the same thing about Ben Roger, but this guy seems like he's 2 years away from being 2 years away. I don't mind them taking a swing at that point in the draft, but I also don't know much outside of the top-20 guys this year so that could be why. I'm sure I'd have felt differently if Emery/Badinka/Ellick were still on the board.

Even if he does "hit" I can't imagine he's getting NHL looks until 2028 at the earliest. He'll play another year in the Swedish junior league before a couple years at Michigan and then likely starting in the AHL.

I know LD is the last thing the team needs prospect wise, but I'm glad they took a swing on what they believed was BPA. This is still a team that needs help everywhere so not getting caught up in the position or handedness is a "+" for Staois and the scouting staff.

I have to imagine he's likely heading to Cedar Rapids, they used a 2nd overall on him in the Phase 2 draft, they usually only pick there if they have a good idea, or at least a very good shot, they will be playing

He talked a bit about that here. Something about Swedish players being one year late compared to NA players, i think with regards to schooling or something. It might explain why he wouldn't just play in the NCAA next season.
Eliasson:I'm very competitive, I'm not like the typical Swedish guy

He said he has one more year of school left in Sweden, because their school system starts a year later than NA.
Then he said he was committed to Michigan state the year after.

Yeah Sens went through the same situation with Nordberg re: Sweden vs USHL, would imagine they would be working behind the scenes to not have the same result with him, but if he stays in Sweden that's fine

Hey Rafi, I think I was wrong yesterday when I said I saw Toure, I think I confused him with Mongomery who I said I didn't see. I think Toure was on crutches today in the lobby of the SensPlex & I doubt that happened yesterday. It's always amusing seeing the Skating Coach who is about 4' tall 90 lbs talking to Eliasson, Walberg & Nordberg  she comes up to their waist.

I know Toure didn't join Belleville after the Windsor Spitfires season ended whereas Tomas Hamara did join the team after the Brantford Bulldogs season ended so it would make sense if Toure had an injury and is still recovering.

As for Eliasson, Donovan said this morning that his equipment didn't come in yesterday so that is the reason why he wasn't on the ice.
