great effort against michigan even though got outshot wide margin . Gallant is small but he’s been looking great lately in my view - plays hard . just lost to Adrian which i think is div 3 5-3 yesterday .

from the mock drafts i’ve seen is really it looks everybody has Moore in the top 20 pick . tretheway - murtaugh it looks posible late first round and Amici , mooney, fondryk , mckinney going second or third round .

I don't get the hype around Moore. He has some talent, yes, but he's nothing exceptionnal and doesn't show a lot of effort out there. We would not even talk about him if he was in the OHL. But I have to say, his game against Michigan was by far my best viewing of him (and he was playing on the wing). Let's hope it continues that way, but still not a first round candidate for me.

Same with Trethewey, interesting tools, but questionable hockey sense and execution. There are other RHD's with a similar profile that are much more effective than him but are not in any Top-32.

Murtagh is the only one I still have in my first round at this point.

I had Fondrk for a while, but the inconsistency and lack of finishing touch make him slide. Same with Amico, I like the profile and the tools, but the offensive upside is non-existent. McKinney, meh. Horcoff, meh.

Andrew O'Neill might be one to keep an eye on...

i’m with you and i think anybody watches that team agrees somewhat . i really think murtaugh is the safest bet on the team because of the way he plays . i see him second third line guy in nhl for 10 years plus . moore you can argue has the most upside but also the most downside too . moore is simply Canada bias in scouting .

Some of the mocks are still catching up with the results of the season. It tends to take a while before the gears of moving guys down (or up) really starts clicking. Nobody wants to be accused of making rash calls or doing 180’s from their pre-season notions based on 10 games.

Once we get into the winter and have more track record and tournaments to base off of, you’ll start to see the guys underperforming dropping like rocks.

That’s why I love HFB and threads like this because posters who watch and know their stuff can really give you some insight before the rankings can pivot to reflect it. It’s not a problem with “rankings” per se, it’s just early in a season they can become outdated very quickly and if you are just looking at a bunch of random ranks on a player’s EP page, you have no idea how old those rankings are, for the most part…unless you do some digging.

I don’t think there is some sort of “bias” to rank Moore highly. He was just highly thought of before the season so it’s going to take more and longer for him to start slipping in a way that may match the eye test of intelligent observers. If there is a bias - it’s the same bias you get with college football or basketball pre/season rankings and the affect of wins and losses tending to take longer to influence where a team is ranked for the teams that start out the gate higher.
