Just another off game can't over react.. that tournament really took the wind out of thier sails.. jets deserved to win this one they just seem tenative and reverting back to lot of the poor habits they had b4.. sloppy entry.. passing up to many shots.. not fighting for position in front of the net.. but oilers caps cane's are all going through similar slumps... they still barely lost both games even though thier not playing even close to thier A game...

The silver lining is that they slumping b4 the deadline and may now be more inclined to grab a big fish at the deadline... they need another weapon on the top 6. The powerplay while doing good job establishing possession in the o zone arehaving a hard time executing. Blown way to many poweplay chances the offense been completely snake bitten...
Defense needs to add some size with some offensive prowess aswell.. someone who can join the rush and hammer shots from the point...

Jets still good team just not playing good hockey atm that third and ot they dominated just couldn't get the puck in the net... could easily gone 2 - 0 last 2 games just ain't capitalizing on thier chances.. clean up a few things and they be good to go.. a few pieces would go long way but as it stands I wouldn't worry to much about this slump they been in every game.. and helly is still playing lights out

Jets should go after someone like boeser maybe change of scenery will b good for him.

Trade lambert and a first first for him... and hope he resigns in the off season.. someone like ror could help to.. especially in the short term... proven scorer with tons of experience plays hard nosed game.. can help get dirty greasy goals in front of the net.. he can squeeze in between ehlers prefetti.. the third line been struggling I think laughton can slot in there next to Lowry and Nino.

Trade Appleton Barlow heinola and a 4th round pick for laughton and ristolleinin

Connor shieffle vilardi
Ehlers ror perfetti
Nino Lowry laughton
Barron nemo kupari

Iaffalo in the box

Lose a cpl of prospects and picks but I think combo of Barlow villle along with a first and maybe a 4th can possibly get 3 guys with term in ror laughton and risto.. might have to throw in guys like Appleton or kupari aswell

next season have 3 guys locked up with reasonable salaries and still leaves enough cap space to sign ehlers and company

Yeah, St. Louis was in a similar spot when they dealt us Stastny. I can't see any team trading a top six ready center for a 34 year old ROR. It feels to me like the team fit is extraordinary but the trade pieces don't align well.

I just think our teams identity is we play good 200 ft hockey and we create offense by capitalizing off frustrating other teams with our neutral zone play, forechecking and defending the high slot.

I feel like ROR enhances what we already do well, but Nelson is similar to Monahan. He is better and adds offense but he doesn't create offense for himself and others from his defense. He isn't bad defensively but you can't match him up against an elite player and expect him not to be overwhelmed in his own zone.

Face-offs and PK are amplified in playoffs and ROR excels in both aspects. And is just as good offensively as Nelson or Schenn and better than Namestnikov.

He isnt what he was five years ago but he is still a top 20-30 center with a game and experience that translates to the post season. I hope we can make it happen, but i know it is a tall order... maybe wishful thinking.

Some excellent points.

You’ve convinced me Flair. I am on board to manifest/will it into existence

U r fake news... so many moves are already taking place and we're a week away.. teams like Nashville are already dropping dead weight for draft picks... and enough of the ehlers not staying blablabla same ppl prolly thought Nino.. Nemo... pionk.. Morrissey.. shieffle.. helly.. buffallyn etc would take off soon as they got the chance.. get over it these guys are a tight knit group and are more than likely sticking it out out til the end.. ehlers is going to stay wpg and jets organization is all him and his family have known since he left Europe
Trust me if there was any indication ehlers was unhappy and wanted to be moved he would of been dealt during last off season

Chevy is too suave and calculated to let a guy as valuable to walk away for nothing...

History proves Chevy moves the pieces that don't want to commit to the team.. he wouldn't risk keeping ehlers without getting a return if he thought there was chance he was leaving...
Why is your 1st post almost unreadable and then 5 minutes later your second post is very readable ? Just wondering. Did you get your mom to write the second post ?

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Brandon Carlo, seems like he is having a off year but I remember last year some of the jets players were asked which D-man in the league was the hardest to play against and a couple of them named Carlo. I feel like he would be a good replacement for Pionk on a cheaper contract for a couple of years. I would like to see him and Fleury as our bottom pair to start and if he excels move him up the line up

What’s an Inanna/Stumbledore scenario?

Ehhh

So with panthers avalanche wild out of the equation.. out of the remaining contending teams jets are in the best position to make a major addition.. especially players with term considering how much cap space they have at thier disposal this year and going forward.. people have varying philosophys on how to approach this deadline but I'm of the mindset that the jets need to priortize winning now than protecting assets for the future... I'm not a big proponent of waiting and seeing with prospects and protecting draft picks especially when the jets are just one or 2 pieces away from hoisting the cup.. this core isn't getting any younger and they need to capitalize b4 the window completely closes

Ryan o Riley 4.5 million cap hit number 2 centre for next 3 years
Scott laughton 3 million cap hit a better version of nemo can move up and down line up.. solid pk guy
And ristolinin a solid top 4 dman with size at just over 5 million are all must adds

Plus u retain them for next 2 - 3 years.. jets will be position to contend for years to come..

When it's time to rebuild move aging vets like helly and mark etc for valuable assets

Laughton can play wing or centre up and down line up and Riley solves the 2nd line center dilemma for next cpl years.. thier contracts are worth salivating over.. all 3 would only have combined cap hit of just under 13 million for next 2 - 3 years

Pretty much swapping out iaffalo Appletons expiring contracts plus wheelers buyout for those 3

If he can add those 3 while still holding on to lambert and chibrkov yager all the better.. no way jets latr first round pick amounts to anything the next 5 plus yrs anyway

I think ROR and Ristolainen make sense for the Jets. My only concern with ROR is whether he's lost a step and will not be able to play with the speed the Jets' system thrives on. He might hurt the chemistry by slowing things down. I don't think Laughton adds much to the Jets roster at all, and would be over-priced. A reminder that the 27-7-91 line has been crushing their opponents at 5v5 in goals and chances.

I actually think the Jets might do well to upgrade RW on the Lowry line. Appleton is fine and works hard, but adding a more dangerous player to RW on that line would give the Jets more scoring depth. Rakell or Bjorkstrand would give the Jets more scoring depth and diversity in the top 9. Boeser is another option, though I am concerned by his lack of speed. Jets need players that get on the forecheck and disrupt to get their offensive zone work going.

The other main area where the Jets need an upgrade is on the 3rd D pair. I'd target a LHD like Dumoulin or Oleksiak. I think Miller is fine as a 3RD, and if you add Risto along with a Dumoulin the Jets have a deep and versatile defense.

If the Jets can't swing a reasonable deal for the higher end players on this list, then adding a D like Dumoulin and another big RW like Armia would be fine, too. He might add something to Lowry's line and the PK.

Too many teams in the mix this year - doubt there's many sellers

Donato or Evans probably the best value options

For D - I think we are locked in with Stan and don't see an upgrade on Miller out there...
Possibly Alex Martinez could help for locker room and playoff experience - depth if there's an injury

Or our old friend Tanev...

I still maintain we need to add something more then just depth, if we can't get a 2c then maybe a winger for the lowry line, someone that can move up into the top 6 if needed
agreed. some on this forum is creaming their pants over some 4th line grit, however i think they could benefit from middle-6 scoring help.

scheifele, connor, vilardi, ehlers & lowry are the +finishers on this team, 3/5 are on the same line

middle-6 via naturalstatrick
perfetti-namestnikov-ehlers: 20 GF on 19.5 xGF
appleton-lowry-nino: 17 GF on 19 xGF

so ~average at finishing, with perfetti and namestnikov underscoring their chances the most. i have confidence the PP will turn it around so not extremely concerned about that. but think those games were the calls may be scarce show a lack of finish when CSV is not out there.
