If copp qould have stayed with panarin he would easily be a 60pt player... he got 53 that year... even before panarin he was on pace for 50 with the jets

Seth jones is another bad pionk...
Seth Jones is also the son of an NBA player/coach, who grew up in Dallas and Colorado.

Pionk has been good this year. PP/PK. Goal last game. A solid 3g, 4a, +13 in his last 12 games. Averaging 22 minutes per night. Jets aren't anywhere close to where they are in the standings without him. I still expect him to re-sign.

Copp always played well in the top 6 when he got the opportunity. 17-18 sparingly, then time with Ehlers (& Stastny) in 2019-2022. Think one of those years he was V good on the PP too.

Yup if we're spending 7M+ on a dman hopefully better than either Jones or Pionk in all around play.

I've been extremely impressed with Samberg's play this year. Impressed to the point where if the Jets decided to go a bit lesser at 2RD to fulfill or improve a different spot (ie: 2c), I'd have confidence in Samberg to anchor at a v high level.

You type all of that out, but the word "very"... that's where you draw the line? 🤔😆

The glaring issue with the team is the defensive depth.. Stanley is a liability out there and needs to be replaced with someone who is lot more steady and consistent..

Number 2 resigning pionk would be foolish he is not built for the playoffs and at his current salary offering him a raise would set this team back drastically.. 5 million plus for undersized defenseman who is approaching his 30s mehh he ain't coming back and if he does no way they pay him over 5

This is how it's going to go down.. jets current cap situation is the envy of every other team.... locked up Morrissey shieffle hellebuck and demelo for average of 7 million is a steal..

There's some ppl in the press and low iq individuals who insinuate the jets aren't in position to easily retain ehlers vilardi and Samberg while still having tons of cap space to add almost any other player they want..

Remember kids u free up almost 7 million after next year just from the money tied up in your buyouts that's 7 million on top of the cap going up... even with 17 plus million additional cap space u have almost 6 million in cap space with your current roster..

U guys get rid of the ridiculous money your paying iaffalo on top of that.. jets have so much cap space next year.. they could sign ehlers for 8 million.. vilaradi 7.5 and Samberg for 5.5 and u guys still have 20 plus million to play with...

Wow!
That is one arrogant post.

Just thank God u guys locked up Morrissey shieffle helly b4 cap projected increase came out.. after this year had they been free agents.. they all looking at 10 plus million

Mark with 40 plus goals easily 10.5 plus on a 4 - 5 yr..
Helly best goalie in league vezina he could got 11 million in the open market
And Morrissey I'm thinking Anythinh under 9 is a robbery

Who are "u guys"? Or, if we are "u guys", then who are you?

60 is not unfathomable he's already averages close to 40 if you prorate it to 82 games played a season
If you prorate it to 82 games he isn't even averaging 30 points a season. Where are you getting your stats from?

Nyquist is super soft. Let the Wild have him. If we're in the market for a Winger, Palmieri remains my choice.
Because he's so tough?

Chevy is talking to Chi about Jones; A couple players and a 2nd for Jones, with some money retained. (Stanley, Prospect + 2nd)

Don't know if we get B Schenn but he'd be a good 2C.

Jomo - Jones
Sam - Pionk
Fluery - DeMelo

Heinola - Miller

I can't imagine we play Stanley in the playoffs, against the Preds he was awful. His penalty liability supersedes his effectiveness.

Fleury is much better.

Schenn is in decline for a 2nd year in a row and is under contract for 6.5 mil for 3 more years.

I read somewhere that he still has good speed. We know he has talent and PO experience, but watching his stats drop year over year makes me think this year will be the last time he is able to contribute. If he was a rental I might be interested, despite my aversion to rentals. But that contract is a deal breaker for me. Not to mention that StL wants a big return on him.

Wouldn't touch him myself.

Jones, with a little retention, I'd pay your offer. The prospect would need to be decent though, or the pick would need to be a 1st, maybe both. But Jones has full NMC so he would be coming here willingly. And he is under contract for 5 more years. Stanley + Lambert + 26 2nd or 25 1st if necessary.

You identify Stanley as a liability on the ice, but he is 4th on the Jets for 5 on 5 GF% at 63.64% GF. This is adjusting for 300 minutes played, to weed out non regular players.

Stanley has been better than I thought possible this year. Still not great. His penalties are a problem. Doesn't even matter if refs are calling penalties on him just because he is big. Unfair, but so what? They are being called.

My concern with Stanley is, what happens in the PO against faster teams? I think he still gets turnstiled. I guess we will see about that because it looks like he plays.

Per TSN…
“The Nashville Predators continue to get calls on veteran centre Ryan O'Reilly and are willing to listen to offers on him, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports in The Athletic.

LeBrun clarifies that the Predators are not shopping O'Reilly ahead of next Friday's deadline and would be happy to keep him if their asking price isn't met. Nashville is seeking a young NHLer who can enter their lineup immediately as a the key piece in a return for O'Reilly.”

Go get him Chevy
Nashville basically has no one top six capable behind O'Reilly if they dealt him. But the reports they are listening is encouraging. Even if it's other teams leaking this to piss of O'Reilly so he may consider leaving, Lol.

I dont think Yager is fair, but him going the other way has to be what Preds would try to insist on. Not sure how he gets moved otherwise. They need a plug and play C back. Value is another question but they need someone back that fits a retool. Not sure Lambert fits that criteria. Maybe Lambert and an "NHL" center like Gus would be in the ballpark. Probably not if I was them.

This team is so damn good this year I'm struggling with how much is too much when it comes to getting O'Reilly on this team. No one else is a tough matchup center that adds plus defense (and a strong plus in his case) and can score like a top line guy.

He brings so much of what we don't have. His skill set shines in the playoffs compared to some of our top guys. Speed is not great but the overall package fits so well for who we are lining up to face in the playoffs. Two way play and hockey IQ always ages better than tools do.

I dont know what the right fit is, maybe someone has some suggestions? Chevy never gives up close to NHL prospects so I dunno. If Barlow and a 1st got it done we probably all would. But that not realistic imo.

We would have to overpay if we keep Yager, but maybe that is the right play if we are getting term. Like a 1st and Lambert but we get a defenseman and a 3rd back type of thing.

This team is too good to not take a chance on. I like ROR as a fit a fair bit more than Neslon. Even if the price is higher.

He also says that we were going to free up 7 million next year due to buyouts when it is much closer to 5.5 million.
If Pionk is healthy, I want him in the playoffs.

Am I reading it wrong? We have Wheeler at 2.75 and Schmidt at 2.7 dropping to 1.6 next year. So we go from just under 5.5 to just over 1.5, saving less than 4.
