Speculation: 2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

Not just this year, he has a worse injury history than Ehlers. I don't know what this latest injury was, but injuries can have a cumulative effect. Is he still any good? Will he be able to avoid the next injury?
I believe he had shoulder surgery to fix the ongoing issue... its a gamble but hes an impact player on a stupid cheap contract - jackets are still in the hunt though so im not sure they trade him

I agree....the second line has never been settled. Chevy has tried to get a centre for awhile now to no avail. It has been a viable line only because of Ehlers. At this point, i would look for a hard nosed scoring winger for the line and run again with CP or Names at centre for continunity........If he trades Ehlers it will be the mistake of his long career.
I thought the 2nd line looked good with Ehlers out. Maybe not with Lambo at C, but when Chibrikov got called up, he put up 2 goals in his first 2 games and Perfetti's strong board work led to the GWG against SJS. 7 points earned in 4 games there.

But that's the Jets depth mentality. Next man up. Scheif goes down on the PP, score without him.

Lowry goes down Kupari and Gus step up.

So far this season Dylan Samberg's injury was the most noticeable in a negative impact. Though losing Nik on the PP did have an immediate impact as well. I think losing Valardi would have an impact, and obviously long term losing any of top 4 core players would devastate the team.

But when Chevy makes a trade or trades I think he'll consider that impact that Sammy's absence had on the team.

Namestnikov wasn't supposed to be the 2C, I think preseason most people had Lambert in that spot, but he was more effective. Namestnikov playing 2C last year also yielded positive results in many ways. I'm not sure it's so much about points but being able to carry the puck with speed through the neutral zone and take his lumps/ice packs defensively.

It will be interesting to see how Chevy moves because Arniel has used speed up the middle as part of his strategy that lets the d men be more aggressive.

I think Lowry might be the answer to let Ehlers have more space out there, as I think he gets it this year, how to play within the structure, with his skillset. Is there another Adam Lowy out there?

I still think speed is one key to Arny's coaching style, and it is clear he prefers skaters as PKing forwards so far.

I can't see Chevy trading anyone off this team. It's a tight group.

I don't really think Frost is a massive upgrade either, I think he's better than Namestnikov but not by a huge margin. I think he makes sense for a few reasons though.

#1 cheap contract for the remainder of this year and one more year of RFA status. Gives Chevy lots of cap flexibility

#2 still young has some upside maybe getting him into a new environment unlocks something

#3 years of control aligns well with Yager & Lambert's development timeline. He can come in man the fort at 2C for a year and a half after which you plan to have one of those two guys ready for the role.

Unless there's a move out there at the deadline for a huge upgrade which I kind of doubt I think he makes sense as an upgrade on what they have for a relatively limited cost.

Agree 100%.
We have enough scoring, our big need is a Dman,
When Sammy went down , it was more than obvious, we can plug and play forwards.
Risto and Frost is the move.
Big strong Dman, and Center depth

So what do you propose to give up for those 2?

I'd be surprised if Frost is anywhere near the Jets radar. Just looking through stats and he's not a PKer on the Flyers, and you would think that if you take a PKer out of the lineup, which is what will happen if someone goes in to the top 6, knocking either Kupari or Barron out of the lineup, that another one comes in. I don't think PK improves by negation.

Jets are a surprisingly good offensive team, with some "underachieving" offensive players. Good enough for 2nd in the league, a second decimal point from being tops.

If the Jets were looking at Toews and we know they were, and they were looking at Henrique offseason, I'd still think the Jets are looking for a faceoff guy with some defensive chops. Maybe Kupari has solidified a role here, I'm not sure what the team would think of him. I'm not expecting goals out of him that's for sure.

Frost is decent on the draw, but he's listed as the heaviest o-zone player on the Flyers, so that's Scheifele/Vilardi's draws.

Yup play stupid games you will find out real quick how dumb you are.

Hockey is a business, but it goes both ways. Players often play hardball during contract negotiations, a sort of playing chicken in their UFA year.........well Past was rumored to be demanding 14 million, he was playing hardball in his UFA year with the obvious threat he would walk for free. The team decided ok Past won't budge from that 14 million threat so trade his ass out for multi assets. I'm ok with the players playing hardball but don't cry when the teams do it also. Good for Avs for calling him on his threat. IMO
