Perfetti doesn't really drive a line. Kind of why that line goes into neutral when Ehlers is out of the lineup.
I had no problem with Perfetti Namestnikov Chibrikov. I thought they scored more than they let go in and kept the sustained zone time that led to goals in line changes. Vegas game being an anomaly in chances. San Jose game being a tough start that was mostly on Namestnikov.

Put Yager in that 2C spot and I think you have something seen in preseason that can work next year.

Agreed, Stanley actually shows well in GF% and xGF%. He isn't a CF% darling but interestingly neither are all of our best forwards, including the usual possession beast Ehlers. Bottom line is we score more with Stanley on the ice then we get scored against and he is a big physical presence and Arniel is taking winning over beauty points.
Nobody wants facts, they just want to hate on Stan

No, I don't think so. No one is going to pay that. Salo is just too promising. The odds are too great that you would be trading a 20 YO top pair RHD for a 30 YO top pair RHD. Salo still may fail to achieve that but the gamble would be too much.
I think you're wrong. Salo may end up being what we hope he will and his camp looked promising. However, he isn't that until he is and no one can predict that he will be.

Weegar is a top defenseman signed at a good aav and will be that through our cores remarrying prime years.

I'm not saying we should our should not make that deal but for a team in the Jets position, challenging for a championship, with a core the same age as Weegar and a clear hole on 1RD, it's a very logical decision.

Never really bought him as a line driver offensively.
Perfetti is a good complimentary player. But he can't be the best player of your line over a full year. He had a good game last night certainly. for the season he has been quite underwhelming again.
I don't think I'd trade him for cozens but if Brady Tkachuk may be available, I'm adding to Perfetti to get him.

Calgary is in a playoff position and will be fighting for a spot the rest of the year, they are not moving Weegar, Buffalo on the other hand is the worst team in the league and ripe to be picked

Agreed. Calgary likely won't be a seller this year unless things really fall off.

Not really sure I see a fit with Buffalo. Byram isn't really what we are looking for on defense imo.

It's hard to drive a line, especially as a 22 year old, so the full story is not yet written on Cole. He is not big, fast or flashy, but he is smart as hell on the ice, with solid defensive metrics and his points/60 are 4th on the team. In fact, if you look at the 2020 draft year, there are really only ~ 4 forwards (and 1 D) who are clearly ahead of him.
He is the kind of player you are unlikely to get equal value for in trade because he hasn't shown his full potential yet.

That’s how Vegas operates, difference is they can purge their prospects and not feel the effects because they supplement their roster with almost any free agents of their choice.

There’s two sides to that argument for the Jets.

He also has the best goal differential on the team. The Jets as a collective sans the third line are having a great deal of issues scoring 5 on 5 this year. Cole is ahead of Scheifele, and well ahead of Vilardi and Namestnikov in his 5 on 5 scoring rates.

I feel Cole isn't really appreciated as much as he should be because he isn't flashy. But he's developing into a very good two way player that imo we are only scratching the surface on. I liken him to a Stome/Reinhart who both had similar deficiencies but really blossomed once their physical development caught up to their smarts/skill.

The coaching staff also sees this as he's starting to really get the recognition in terms of ice time. Hes trusted in more sutuations then Vilardi for instance and imo is having the far better year. He's well down on the list of issues with this team and imo he's the clear 4th best forward in the top 6.

weird, b/c his fans like to claim he drives the line, is better than scheifele, plays like HOF/near-HOF players, and a whole wack of other ridiculous comparisons. do you keep the same energy or retorts for those? of course the full story isn't written , ppl are commenting on his play this year not for the rest of his career.

This will be an unpopular opinion but either Nik re signs or gets moved, I have no appetite for a self rental especially if the Jets flame out in the first round he does nothing in the first round then walks to free agency. Ask his agent if he has a preference where he would like to go and move him. I say this with Nik being my favorite Jets player but this team especially this team cannot lose an asset for nothing.

I don't think that is an unpopular opinion. It is an uncomfortable reality.

But I don't think it happens. If he was going to be extended, it would have happened by now and I don't think Chevy trades a key player with the team near the top of the league standings. So own rental it is. I just hope that Chevy doesn't rent any more. Nik is enough.

Fleury has been just as fast I think and berg isn’t much slower.

As it stands right now, I think Fleury has earned the 3LD spot when Snerg comes back. But that was the case when Stan came back too and Fleury was immediately relegated to the PB.

Yes, but, theoretically Heinola shouldn’t be in the line up. Coach will do what coach will do, so Stanley, but, in a fan’s ideal line up it’s mo, berg, fleury and Henola’s development is stunted in pb and Stan is playing somewhere else.

My opinion is if there isn't an extension announced soon after the Xmas break then it isn't happening.

I also believe Chevy won't sell him unless he gets a hockey deal (unlikely). It would send a terrible message to the room of a team in first place.

the Jets have done own rentals with similarly depth charted players before. that's what i am prepping for. not to say he still can't sign afterward like Demelo last year.

i can't see them trading him for futures, and who is giving a top-6 level C or top-4 level RHD for a UFA-1? doubt anyone.

really think the likelihood of him being traded is slim, if someone can find me a few examples of PO teams trading out of their top scorers at the TDL i may warm up to the possibility of it.

Perfetti is quietly putting together a very strong season, and improving continuously. He's very good along the boards and quickly finds passing options. He's reliable defensively and in transition. I think he'll be a really good complement to Ehlers as they get more used to each other. He does remind me of Reinhart in his style of play, though Reinhart showed much more at the same age. Perfetti's smaller and had a rockier development pathway with Covid, though.
