I agree with Nelson, but I coveted Cozens and I would be ok trading Perfetti. Cozens was already signed long term and Cole signed for 2 years I believe. We already know the Jets issues with a 2C in the past and this would’ve shored up that.
Yes, it may have been a very good deal to offer Perfetti to get Cozens, and finally solve that 2C position. Hard to say though, as Cole has not matured to reach his potential yet. Because of Cozens size and grit, I would have been tempted to make that deal, and likely done it.

I think it was fine we missed out on Nelson, as he is getting older, and only has 2-3 years left in him, and the decline may come faster. Colorado taking a big risk with that deal. Rather than overpay, I think not getting him may turn out to be a plus for the Jets. Keep those future 1st rounders, that this 1st place club was built on.

I am content with Chevy's work today. Some of these prices were outrageous and I don't think the Jets can do business that way. After seeing Tanev tonight I can't believe how effective he can be and shamed myself fr not remembering that. Luke Schenn will also make this team harder to play against.

No home runs today, but a solid single for sure.

Nelson would've been good but it's clear Chevy was happy to match but he just simply didn't want to come here, so yeah f*** that guy and f*** the Avs, f*** the Stars too.

I'm not upset about losing draft picks considering we have managed to keep our playoff window open for years and by the looks of it Hellebuyck will probably guarantee us playoffs for the next 4-5 seasons.

Also, we have some pretty sick prospects in Walton and He. I predict those two will be a dynamic duo in the future.

I look at the moves as underwhelming but the players that come out of the line up (gus/kup/miller) don't bring much anyways so if schenn/tanev can improve our pk it will end up being a net positive overall
Well on K&R show it came out that Chevy was ready to pay the price and a deal was in place for Brock Nelson but he DID NOT want to come to Winnipeg..
Crozens was never going to be traded to the Jets unless the Sabres got a 2C in return which the Jets don’t have.
The Blues took Schenn off the table since they are in the playoff hunt.
So please stop blaming Chevy … he can’t pull a gun to a players head to come to Winnipeg.

Let the core take this team to the promise land!!

Tanev and Schenn, good solid acquisition. And i heard good in the locker room also.
I believe these are two guys also that will help Lowry when sh!T gets dirty... That's where Jets need a little bit of help - when other teams will try to outgoon the Jets. We have the best offensive team in the league and the best goalie. With the best Power Play. The two additions i believe are good PK?

I wonder if we had MacKinnon instead of Scheifele would it change player's minds in coming to Wpg? I'm thinking there are some players who would rather play with MacKinnon just based upon his league reputation

Not worried about the offense
We are one of the if not the best in the league in offense and though Scheifele and Connor are up their. How many of our forwards will score more than 10 goals.

Best PowerPlay
And best defense (well goalie :) )

The trade address help on PK as Jets is middle of the pack all year.

And toughness and sandpaper.

Bring on the HEAVYWEIGHTS!!!

In this order
Edmonton
Colorado
Dallas

And either Florida or Washington birh have good story line
Paul Maurice Matthew Tkachuk
and
Ovie story book ending?

Interesting TD day.

Glass half empty time: Seems like Chevy was trying hard to patch the forever hole in our ship but the few key patch assets wanted to go elsewhere for a Kings ransom. Also sounds like Chevy wanted Oleksiak but Jamie said not Winnipeg. That would have been an important upgrade to our 3rd pair and that hurts. Some days it sucks to be Winnipeg and yesterday was "possibly" one of them.

Glass half full: Last TD its like we weren't based in Winnipeg and we gave up a draft class and got whatever our heart desired and that magic dust yielded one win in the playoffs before being swept. We have always needed our core players to step up in the post season and we were always going to live and die by Helle, Schief, Connor, Morrissey, Ehlers, and Lowry. We need our Vezina player to step up and he will this post season (my only prediction), we need our powerplay to not dry up, we need our best forwrad Scheifele to be our best forward and have a monster playoffs (he needs to be noticeably better "beast mode"), we need Connor to not get pushed out of the playoffs when the space gets tight and the physicality amps up, we need Nik to provide depth scoring from the second line and "produce points". We need Morrissey to play at a top 5 NHL D man level. Lowry and his 3rd line mates need to elevate and slow down the other teams best. Our secret sauce this magical season has been Helle's amazing goaltending, one of the NHL best PP's in the last decade, solid team defense, and depth. We need that to be similar in the playoffs. Yesterday was always about maybe tweaking that a bit but never about more than an edge. We have a league best team that is good enough if they show up. This post season its time to show up.

Last word, Ok so the available players at the deadline gave us a big f*** you. I am over it and the best way to say............ah........ "NO" ...........f*** you, to the hockey world is to win in the playoffs.

Agreed, Winnipeg is at a disadvantage and that's not going to change obviously but i am starting to get pissed off at hearing this player and that player won't come to Winnipeg. Can you imagine being Chevy and how frustrating that would be, yup i agree to your trade but just hang on and let me ask the player if he agrees to go to Winnipeg, he says nope not going there. Players are making millions of dollars AND get to pick and choose where they go ? Don't agree with that at all and i hope we destroy everyone and win the Stanley Cup and all give the other teams watching the parade the finger. I have umbrellas for us in case it rains ......

Where did I say that?
I said he hasn't been good for a couple of years. I said he has lost something, either speed or something else. I said he is not the same player he was 5-6 years ago. But I'm pretty sure I didn't say he was slow. I said Schenn was slow. Real slow.

He can be a bit slower than he was and still have speed. Who isn't slower at 32 than at 25?
You love being right don't you. 🤣

Probably as insignificant as the change in our Stanley Cup odds with the new players.
Thank God odds have nary a thing to do with actual chances to win a cup.

The pick ups might have not been the shiny baubles we wanted but I think they are sneakily good.

One area of weakness for us last year in the playoffs was getting scored on with tips and high screens, and our inability to control the front of the net. Schenn will help with that.

Our pk needed improvement and we added 2 guys who can help with that.

Kupari is a decent disruptor on the forcecheck but he doesn't have the aggressive physicality that tanev has. His check of Markstrom behind the net last night was a small example of what he brings, and that line looked very effective.

Finally, it's 2 guys excited to be here, veteran presences who can help stabilize us if we get all jittery.

We added some size and physicality on the back end, and some aggressiveness overall.

I think those trades made us better and worth with a few lottery tickets.

Maybe we can grab some of that draft capital back in the offseason by moving Heinola.

I was driving to hockey during last night's game so was listening to the OB broadcast.

First, I can't stand the play by play guy. He sounds like he's in the midst of a cholestorol fueled heart attack the entire time .

But, in the intermission, Moore had a great interview with Chevy and i thought it was the most forthcoming I've heard him.

He said that their mindset going in was they weren't risk adverse or afraid to pay whatever price that made sense for the club. Players, Prospects and our first round were all in play.

He said that the market was pretty scarce, players that were supposedly on the market ended up not being available, and some of the deals they were in just didn't work out for various reasons.

I'm happy with his TDL day. He managed to improve our depth and playoff readiness, and he didn't mortgage the future to do it.

I do hope that we end up 1st in the central so the two teams that were able to load up at the deadline (Dallas and Colorado) have to enter the Thunderdome together.

Keep the pedal down boys.
I hope rantanen continues to play like he did in Carolina and we find out that his performance in Colorado was heavily dependent on his linemates.

Stankhoven and two firsts. Oof

as for Colorado, I still am not overly worried about them. If the Jets play their game in the playoffs and helle is helle we should handle them no problem.

I would love if this happens because 1 of Dallas or Colorado would be guaranteed out in the 1st round after loading up. Then we can all do this....

Ranatanen in 13 games with the Canes ... 2 goals 4 assists for a whopping 6 points.
Let's see how the Stars and Ranatanen do on the ice before they are crowned the winners.
There's a big difference when you don't have MacKinnon and Makar on the ice with you.
And at $12 million per year, I won’t be surprised if they regret that contract in a couple years. While he’s obviously a good player, he was a huge benefactor of playing with MacKinnon and Makar.

Yeah, I tend to reject the premise in the media that Colorado is better than they were two months ago or a year ago. And what are they, 16 points behind us? They have work to do.

Agree with Duthie on the Panel that Dallas and Florida improved the most.

But we are a top 5-10 5v5 team with the best goalie and best PP in the league. Nothing anyone else has done has changed that.
