Speculation: 2024/25 Trade Rumours, Speculation etc Thread

I'd really like to see them try out one and or both of Ehlers - Lowery - Nino or Ehlers - Names - Nino to see what I that might look like.

The 2nd and 3rd lines essentially play the exact same TOI at even strength so any messing around there is really about finding a good mix more than getting anyone more or less ice time.

Jets linked to Ryan Lindgren. Hmmmm

I wonder if that rumor is because there's been a few trades between both orgs.

Looks like Lindgren is a shutdown LD. Would that mean Samberg is bumped to 3rd pairing?

Could give us 3 good pairings with one defensive D on each.

I think Samberg Miller becomes your shutdown pair
If Sammy and Pionk have chemistry I'd just put Lindgren in that role with Miller. Lindgren has more experience as a shutdown guy. Miller's done it too. 3 pairings that can play even minutes would be a benefit if you don't have a superstar like Makar or Hughes that can play every other shift, and 3 minutes shifts. Though Josh Morrissey isn't that far off from being that good. But everybody would be playing a role.

Agreed. Just because the article mentions 2nd pairing doesn’t mean that’s where he plays with the Jets.

Only if he comes with Adam Fox...

Fairly damning metrics there over a huge sample (over which the Rangers have been good for 2 seasons and bad for 0.5 of this season so far). He's played 77% of his minutes with Fox, he's terrible without Fox, and he's a drag on Fox (Fox is much better without him). And his cap hit is $4.5M?!

This looks like a terrible bet...

And it moves Big Stan to PB, unless he’s included in the deal.
Maybe Stan pissed off the core vets enough last game by taking their ice time away, that he's included for the Rangers quest to tank. He seems like the player that would go back in the trade for Cap reasons, if you still want to add a forward.

With all due respect G Money how many of those shifts without Fox are with Trouba, who the team actively tried to trade for poor performance? Whereas Fox without Lindgren is probably with Miller, who is the Rangers best LD.

2022-23 - present, 5v5, Lindgren without Fox

Still underwater, except for GF% - but that GF% will eventually regress closer to the xGF%.

46% CF and 44% xGF without Fox boosting him or Trouba dragging him down isn't encouraging...

Lindgren's other common partners were:
Gustafsson (164 TOI, 44% GF, 44% xGF)
Miller (116 TOI, 33% GF, 33% xGF)
Schneider (102 TOI, 73% GF, 52% xGF)

So, I'd also take Lindgren if Schneider is coming with him...

That was pretty quick, good stuff, confirmed my eye test about Trouba. I guess if Miller plays anywhere like Schneider it's not a bad move.

Given the expected cost of each I would much rather go after Dumoulin than Lindgren.
I'd say that's probably the better player. Dumoulin put himself back on the map after disappearing in Seattle. He's had the opportunity this year to play with some promising young defensemen. But then you look at bringing a guy who is living in California, and knows exactly no one on the team, and you have a guy who is from Minnesota and knows players on the team, it's maybe a dressing room fit too, and potentially a longer term player if he fits. Cost for the two I imagine is the same. Both have some playoff pedigree, Dumoulin went further on a better team, paired with Letang, both are UFAs.

Sounds like Waddell really wants to resign Olivier before he goes to market. He's moved up their lineup and is playing pretty solid minutes with decent production. Might have to strike him off my wish list.

Lindgren takes a beating game in game out also a UFA so that's a hard pass for me
But is he an upgrade on what they have now?
