God I f***ing love seeing Kempe go after Tchuckf*** like that. He's just on a good one right now. Great unexpected win.

Dude is taking over the C right before our eyes and it’s beautiful to see

Kopitar is a legend but kempe is a complete player in his own right

The Kings are blessed to have Kempe for any price, but there probably isn’t a better non-elc in the league. I hope he shines at the four-nations, he deserves more praise from the national media.

I think he’s been getting it a lot lately which is nice but yeah it’s still only during Kings games. National exposure always rings these guys some light

I like LA's line up and how sometimes Hiller juggles them up...putting Fiala with Kopi and Kempe can be fkcing magic and it was tonight...like to see Byfield get fkcing pissed off and hammer some people to get some room for himself and linemates...need him and Foegele to get going again...hope Laferriere is coming back soon too

Late to the party, only really watched the 6-on-5 at the end. But yeah, Swedish fans have him way to far down the pecking order on the national team imho. I think he's going to turn some heads.

Everyone played pretty well tonight. If they arent gonna score 4 a night they dont have room for those glaring mistakes and turnovers. They slept through the second period a bit but still kept things to the outside in the dzone.

Nice job, Hiller.

Boys were asleep last game…this one was huge. You and the boys came through. Kuemper for PLD any day of the week.

After Logan Thompson, PLD is the 2nd best player on the Caps right now! He is a big part of why the Caps are the top team in the NHL right now. Some of you who hate PLD so much, should read the piece ESPN recently wrote about the Caps and specifically PLD. The reason it failed with the Kings because the coaches terribly misused his skill set and I think a good deal of the roster never accepted him for his previous rep and the teammates they lost in the deal. Something else, it was said the Caps had been very interested in PLD when he was still playing for the Jets, but Blake's offer was better than what the Caps might have been offering. My personal opinion, with Koala and Hiller, the coaching has been wrong in getting this roster to generate more offense. I feel the tools are there, but you need the right coaches to get it from the players.

Nice story, but doesn’t excuse PLD for playing like shit. Kuemper showed more effort in first 5 games than PLD did in 82+…f*** that guy.

Anyways, back to the game played. Kings really need to tap into scoring more goals going into the playoffs. This defense first style will not win a playoff series. Hiller can't even get this team to play good defense and then counter-attack with good offense. Regarding Byfield, he can still be a 60 - 80 pt player, but you got to have the right coaching to tap into his offensive potential. That means also giving good line mates he can develop good chemistry with. Kings with Byfield could end up the same path as the Rangers in trading Kapo Kakko, where playing with another team is a better fit.

PLD was a disaster here. Im sure there is something to the theory it wasnt just his fault... this is an org known for doing stupid things w skilled players... but hey if you're a plug and always backcheck you are golden. Im sure Vilardi is much happier and his numbers show it.. wont be surprised if Kaliyev does OK... Id put money that Q and Clarke on different teams would double their point totals.

Lewis sparked his "fourth" line & they came up huge!!!

Hiller is a genius! Who would think about using 4 forward lines! Makes no sense. Just run three & splice in an extra player if someone gets too tired. Hiller just invents a 4th line! Crazy.

King's take over the 3rd period because they unexpectedly have energy left from Hiller's 4th line!

Coach of the year!!!!

Kempe is awesome. Little hack after the whistle & Tkssuck just loses it. 😂

PL: It's the coaches job to get the most out of their players. Todd & Hiller stapled PL to JAD. It got Todd fired. 😂

Post Game Notes, from lakingsinsider. A few late entires.

Need to add a few more, that were missed.
• Goaltender Darcy Kuemper turned aside 26 of 27 shots to collect his 14th win of season and improve his record to 14-4-5 on the season. Kuemper has only allowed one goal or less in his last six of seven starts.
• Per NHL PR, the Kings improved to 15-3-1 at home this season and established their fastest pace to 15 home wins in a campaign. The previous mark of 20 games was set in 2012-13.
• Trevor Moore's ineptitude continues; 1 goal in his last 19 games, scored on a goalie (2 EN vs Min)
and won zero puck battles. 0 hits, 0 takeaways, 0 intensity, 0 urgency, easy to play against. Despite this, Moore has been a fixture on PP2, while players such as Warren Foegele, get 0 PP time. Moore has scored 0 PP goals.
Phil Danault continued his invisibility act. He now has 2 goals in his last 31 games. Phil is on a pace for a monster year; 5.125 goals. 1 goal for every million dollars he cashes in. Phil had 1 hit and looked involved on a few shifts. Nice to see, for being an alternate captain. Phil has also been a fixture on PP2 all year and has yet to score a PP goal.

Dowd has done so for years with the Caps. Roy, though a stay @Home d-man could do the same. Kings have stunted offense from their players for years(I think they still emphasize too much all 4 forward lines having 2-way centers, when they should have more emphasis on goal scoring wingers). They are still trying to duplicate Sutter hockey, but not being physical, plus the effect is a lot less. They need to move on. Hiller is just a stopgap coach. The players will tune him out in less than 3 years, if they don't win a playoff round this time around.

I wouldn't call it a disaster, as he put up a decent 40 pts. I have seen a lot worse that was more fitting to call it a disaster. PLD trade situation didn't look good from the start. Coaches didn't know how to approach coaching him and the majority of the roster really didn't want to accept him. PLD is a nice person, but I think he never wanted to be here. Some players handle an uncomfortable team situation better than others. Maybe my perspective is different from others as I'm not a die hard Kings fan as I adopted them as my 2nd team to the Caps. The majority of hate should fall on Blake. I think it's easy to hate PLD because he signifies what has become an ongoing problem with the team in general. They have been a disappointing team for multiple seasons, with what should have been a young and upcoming team winning playoff series.

Both Moore/Danault would be better players with better coaching, but Blake is not gonna fire Hiller, so might be best to trade both players. Maybe package both players plus a pick for a goal scorer? Moore had 31 goals and 57 pts last season. Something has gone very wrong with his big drop off in offensive production. Danault is mirroring the exact same last 3 seasons as he did with the Habs. Neither player is working out right now, so change is needed.

What becomes of Clarke once Doughty comes back, which looks like will happen on this roadie.

Do they waive a defenseman or send Clarke to Ontario because he does not have to be placed on waivers?
