The post I mentioned is from a NY Post editor.
This Mets reporter is also saying Alonso to the Jays.
To be fair, he actually posted it prior to the post you mentioned.
The fact he has specifics makes me think this deal is done.
If both Alonso and Scherzer sign, you he'd be to give props to this management team. They've been getting ripped apart the last 2 off seasons but adding Santander, Alonso,Scherzer, Hoffman and the Jimenez trade is actually one hell of an off season and has really propelled this teams chances this year.
This is exactly what has happened numerous times. Alonso is a boras client amd he knows leaking that alonso to jays will get the mets to up their offerLast time small local reporters were releasing info early on the Jays getting a player it didn't end well. This could be the Alonso camp leaking it out to try and get the Mets to up their offer.
75/3 would be a great deal though.
Some of us have been calling that out as BS since before the Jays spent a single dollar this offseason.
If you know how to read between the lines it was easy to see as fraudulent reporting from the start (I laid out what I thought the motive was too back around the non-tender deadline IIRC).
If BNS and Shi are right about their latest sentiments, this offseason is going to end up being another nightmare like last year.
At best they have the same source. At worst, the Jays fan is guessing and the NYP editor has either heard something (or he's putting his reputation on the line for crap).Point still stands that the NY Post editor tweeted it out after the other guy. Are you suggesting the editor is basing his info off the other guy’s tweet? Because that would make more sense.
I don’t really have time to go through what was said or not said since the winter meetings, but it is funny how looking back at my initial post refuting their claims, it was you who was the OP.

These guys can't even get first break on a Jays trade/signing. They get fed absolutely nothing from the org.
It's literally not even a report, it's just speculation from Shi Davidi. He even admitted as much and also acknowledged that it could be based on "opening day" and not "year end" like I said:Thanks. The path forward is to spend in order to improve. There are not a ton of trade chips. So the 20-25M numbers being reported do not make sense. So I hope you're right.
Source? (there are a bunch of fake Passan accounts)Passan just confirmed Alonso to Toronto.
Just wrap it up with a Vladdy extension bow, boys!f*** me, Shatkins are slowly going to win me over if they manage to get him.
I think you fell for a fake accountPassan just confirmed Alonso to Toronto.

LMAO you didn't go back far enough first of all, and 2nd of all the "IF" was a big word there. Don't try and make it seem like that's what I believed.
This is what I believed, which I actually posted before the non-tender deadline:

Based on the Jays spending patterns the last 2 seasons while they've been a tax paying club, a $250M opening day CBT payroll for the 3rd straight season is a way safer guess than a $235M...
Happens to everyone at some point lolFake account. Sorry everyone!
Would still need to extend Guerrero but yes if they add Alonson it will be much better than what they did the last two years. Gimenez is a good player if his contract doesn't prevent you to get Alonso and Santander and extend Vlad then it's a good trade. If both Alonso and Scherzer sign, then you'll have to give props to this management team. They've been getting ripped apart the last 2 off seasons but adding Santander, Alonso,Scherzer, Hoffman and the Jimenez trade is actually one hell of an off season and has really propelled this teams chances this year.
If Vlad can and prefer to play 3rd base i'd say ideally you want Vlad at 3rd base and Alsonso at 1st and probably have Springer DH to let him focus on his bat. Then whoever wins the LF spot at camp gets it (Lukes, Straw, Clements, Loperfido, ...)Definitely a good rebound after losing out on Sasaki and Soto plus a few others.
Now to just figure out what to do with Vladdy, see if he can lock in longterm.
Also if Alonso's in, does he DH and Vladdy stays at 1B, maybe they rotate?
Or is there any smoke to the idea of Vladdy moving back to 3B?
Because I told you the post that I was referring to was made by me around the non-tender deadline, not in December. And my selective use of "If" at the beginning obviously implies neutrality while I'm outlining a hypothetical scenario. Nice try grasping a straws there Eyedea. Why would I go further back? Sounds like you were tip toeing the line and weren’t sure which side to believe in I guess.
