To be fair, he actually posted it prior to the post you mentioned.




The fact he has specifics makes me think this deal is done.

Last time small local reporters were releasing info early on the Jays getting a player it didn't end well. This could be the Alonso camp leaking it out to try and get the Mets to up their offer.

Some of us have been calling that out as BS since before the Jays spent a single dollar this offseason.

If you know how to read between the lines it was easy to see as fraudulent reporting from the start (I laid out what I thought the motive was too back around the non-tender deadline IIRC).

I don’t really have time to go through what was said or not said since the winter meetings, but it is funny how looking back at my initial post refuting their claims, it was you who was the OP.

If BNS and Shi are right about their latest sentiments, this offseason is going to end up being another nightmare like last year.

These guys can't even get first break on a Jays trade/signing. They get fed absolutely nothing from the org.

LMAO you didn't go back far enough first of all, and 2nd of all the "IF" was a big word there. Don't try and make it seem like that's what I believed.

Thanks. The path forward is to spend in order to improve. There are not a ton of trade chips. So the 20-25M numbers being reported do not make sense. So I hope you're right.

It's literally not even a report, it's just speculation from Shi Davidi. He even admitted as much and also acknowledged that it could be based on "opening day" and not "year end" like I said:

Based on the Jays spending patterns the last 2 seasons while they've been a tax paying club, a $250M opening day CBT payroll for the 3rd straight season is a way safer guess than a $235M...

It should be mentioned that the current front office has an excellent rapport with Boras. Pretty much the polar opposite from when Beeston was at the helm. But yes, that Burnes signing was a notable one when it was looking favourable and then the DBacks swooped in. But it was also clearly stated that he favoured the west coast.

Alonso, Vlad, Bo and Santander is an actually legit heart of the order. That plus anything resembling a bounceback from guys like Kirk/Springer and now you're cookin'

With my belief in the pitching staff being able to rebound from a rough 2024, they're right back in the mix.

Would still need to extend Guerrero but yes if they add Alonson it will be much better than what they did the last two years. Gimenez is a good player if his contract doesn't prevent you to get Alonso and Santander and extend Vlad then it's a good trade.

If Vlad can and prefer to play 3rd base i'd say ideally you want Vlad at 3rd base and Alsonso at 1st and probably have Springer DH to let him focus on his bat. Then whoever wins the LF spot at camp gets it (Lukes, Straw, Clements, Loperfido, ...)

Because I told you the post that I was referring to was made by me around the non-tender deadline, not in December. And my selective use of "If" at the beginning obviously implies neutrality while I'm outlining a hypothetical scenario. Nice try grasping a straws there Eyedea.
