If both Alonso and Scherzer sign, then you'll have to give props to this management team. They've been getting ripped apart the last 2 off seasons but adding Santander, Alonso,Scherzer, Hoffman and the Jimenez trade is actually one hell of an off season and has really propelled this teams chances this year.

This Mets reporter is also saying Alonso to the Jays.

To be fair, he actually posted it prior to the post you mentioned.

The fact he has specifics makes me think this deal is done.

Last time small local reporters were releasing info early on the Jays getting a player it didn't end well. This could be the Alonso camp leaking it out to try and get the Mets to up their offer.

75/3 would be a great deal though.

Definitely a good rebound after losing out on Sasaki and Soto plus a few others.

Now to just figure out what to do with Vladdy, see if he can lock in longterm.

Also if Alonso's in, does he DH and Vladdy stays at 1B, maybe they rotate?

Or is there any smoke to the idea of Vladdy moving back to 3B?

This is exactly what has happened numerous times. Alonso is a boras client amd he knows leaking that alonso to jays will get the mets to up their offer

Some of us have been calling that out as BS since before the Jays spent a single dollar this offseason.

If you know how to read between the lines it was easy to see as fraudulent reporting from the start (I laid out what I thought the motive was too back around the non-tender deadline IIRC).

I don’t really have time to go through what was said or not said since the winter meetings, but it is funny how looking back at my initial post refuting their claims, it was you who was the OP.

Point still stands that the NY Post editor tweeted it out after the other guy. Are you suggesting the editor is basing his info off the other guy’s tweet? Because that would make more sense.
At best they have the same source. At worst, the Jays fan is guessing and the NYP editor has either heard something (or he's putting his reputation on the line for crap).

Given that these guys are all saying similar but different things, it wouldn't shock me if these are crap.

LMAO you didn't go back far enough first of all, and 2nd of all the "IF" was a big word there. Don't try and make it seem like that's what I believed.

This is what I believed, which I actually posted before the non-tender deadline:

It should be mentioned that the current front office has an excellent rapport with Boras. Pretty much the polar opposite from when Beeston was at the helm. But yes, that Burnes signing was a notable one when it was looking favourable and then the DBacks swooped in. But it was also clearly stated that he favoured the west coast.

Why would I go further back? Sounds like you were tip toeing the line and weren’t sure which side to believe in I guess.

Alonso, Vlad, Bo and Santander is an actually legit heart of the order. That plus anything resembling a bounceback from guys like Kirk/Springer and now you're cookin'

With my belief in the pitching staff being able to rebound from a rough 2024, they're right back in the mix.

Would still need to extend Guerrero but yes if they add Alonson it will be much better than what they did the last two years. Gimenez is a good player if his contract doesn't prevent you to get Alonso and Santander and extend Vlad then it's a good trade.

If Vlad can and prefer to play 3rd base i'd say ideally you want Vlad at 3rd base and Alsonso at 1st and probably have Springer DH to let him focus on his bat. Then whoever wins the LF spot at camp gets it (Lukes, Straw, Clements, Loperfido, ...)

Because I told you the post that I was referring to was made by me around the non-tender deadline, not in December. And my selective use of "If" at the beginning obviously implies neutrality while I'm outlining a hypothetical scenario. Nice try grasping a straws there Eyedea.
