2024-25 Roster Thread #2: Midseasonnar

Not sure if anyone has seen this yet. Looks like they're gearing up to to something dumb.

I’ve been to two games this year, both free tickets. IMO no other sport is as fun being in person that hockey.
Yet both games I wanted to be anywhere other than where I was. The arena was as silent as a morgue, I was bored to tears. The most entertaining thing on the ice was the second intermissions inflatable costume character race.
They’re not just a boring team, they are a bad, poorly ran, boring team.

Hopefully Kuzmenko strings couple of high scoring games and they lock themselves into stupid contract before he ends the year riding the bench. Pelletier is prototypical current era flyer.

both these guys will be gone within 2 years..

absolute plugs
Frost and Farabee were also gone in two years.

When you project the Flyers forward:
1) Cates, Jett and a top six center to be named later (draft pick/trade)
2) Tippett, Foerster, Couts, Barkey, Pelletier at LW
3) Michkov, TK, Brink, at RW

The top six center is the key acquisition.

It's much easier to fill out wings, either big muckers who can skate or smurfs with skills are available in the later 1st rd and 2nd rds - but full sized two way centers are hard to obtain outside the top 15 or so.

What about players who passed through waivers earlier in the season, are they good?

The Flyers are 24th, lost their last two games 8-0 combined, and they play the Avs & Utah away, plus Was & Pit at home before the break.

That suggests that the Cap wasn't much of an issue, and they were less interested in dumping Farabee's cap hit than dumping Farabee (i.e. they saw him as a bottom six forward going forward who wasn't a good fit for that role). And that they could have easily paid Frost if they wanted to keep him.

It also means TK, Sanheim and Tippett are bargains.
