ES points are more "stable."
At lower levels they're also better predictors b/c they reflect playing with smaller windows.
Top players get a lot of lower level PP points simply b/c they play on PP1.

Think about the Flyer PP, even a player as good as Michkov isn't going to pile up points the way he would on a top PP, conversely on a good PP, the 4th and 5th players on PP1 are going to get 20+ points just by "being there" (i.e. passing the puck around and picking up assists).

Cool but PP goals still count so entirely writing them off is weird, and as I recall you only become so gung ho on this silly point of completely disregarding PP production as a means to defend bad decisionmaking around Voracek and Ghost.

No because only a few players get to play on PP1.
So if you want to compare apples to apples, stick with ES points.
Still affected by teams, schemes, linemates, but more informative.

Bergeron is a good example, played on the PP early in his career, then taken off after a few years b/c he was too valuable in other roles. Still the same player even if his point totals were smaller.

Which doesn't mean PP points don't have value. But that's special teams play, just like the PK.
Why value PP points more than PK points avoided (harder to measure but mirror image)?

So the Cup champs, a team run by a living fossil, and a team run by a triumvirate.
The rangers made a trade though

We know they tried to make trades. They tried to move up in the draft and got laughed at, because the teams at the top of the draft know that’s the safest bet to get high end talent.

is it possible that this is a stealth tank hidden from higher up by both real and pretend incompetence?

I f***ing hate this organization

TK should have been dealt, not extended
Same goes for Seeler & Hathaway
Laughton should have been moved last season
Couts should have been dealt, not extended.

The utter incompetence, year after year, is breathtaking. This team is light years away from challenging for a Cup. At this point, every player on the roster save for Michkov and maybe Foerster & York should be available for the right return.

I hope they continue to miss the playoffs for 4 or 5 more years, it’s the only way that ownership might realize that a complete and total purge of the hockey ops dept is a necessity.

It's a dumb move ... but I'm guessing their only move until they decide what to do with their three goalies. And maybe they can't stash DeLo on IR forever?

They're not going to waive any of the other defensemen, and the only waiver-free forwards are Michkov and Foerster.
