Why do you people harp on an injury prone 31 year old D-man who was dumped by a HC and GM who have been history for years?
Why do consistently sing the praises of GMs and coaches until they are fired?

Why do you then pretend that you never sung their praises?

Why do you routinely state that such and such prospect will be on the roster in 3-4 years and then pretend you didn’t when those players never make the team?

Why do you carefully and selectively pick and choose stats that support your incorrect assertions while ignoring the stats that do not, let alone the eye test?

Your shtick is old, stale and tiring.

Maybe because Briere traded a recent 5th overall prospect with sky high stock for a defenceman who is more than 6 times worse at putting up even strength points than a powerplay specialist who plays on the third pairing. A powerplay specialist this team paid to get rid of a few years earlier.

Nice try at deflecting how bad Drysdale (and by extension, that trade) is though.

Don't look now, but Gauthier ain't exactly burning up the league.
29g 2-6 8 (ES) - that prorates to 23 points.
He's below average defensively.
He's 20 (21 in Jan), two years of college under his belt, so while there's plenty of upside, this isn't a 19 year old coming out of the CHL (Farabee, TK).
He's on a line with McTavish (#3) and Fabbri.

Right now Gauthier is a poor man's Tippett, volume shooter, except he doesn't score, doesn't hit people. Big, fast finesse forward in a PF's body. At this point, Tippett is probably his ceiling.

Don't look now is correct. We look at what his value was at the time of the trade. It was higher than Drysdale.

It remains higher than Drysdale, actually. He's more of a mystery box with more theoretical upside for people who haven't watched him too closely.

THEY RETAINED THE STAFF THAT TOOK THAT GUY AT 5TH OVERALL THROUGH A “REGIME CHANGE”. Give it a rest. Christ.

It wasn't exactly a great draft:
#6 Jiricek, #7 Korchinski #8 Kasper #9 Savoie #10 Mintyukov #11 Geekie, #12 Mateychuck #13 Nazar, #14 McGroaty
Of this group, right now the only one outplaying Cutter is Mintyukov.

I want to ask what Frank Nazar has done to you to never give him an ounce of credit for anything, but we’re back to McGroarty not being good.

Was it 2 or 3 weeks ago he was a better prospect than Gauthier? And a few weeks before that, it was this. I’m sure I go back further, there will be more. I’m dizzy, boss.

I don't know how many times this needs to be explained to you before you understand it, but Gauthier's value now has nothing to do with his value at the time of the trade. Stop pretending it does or I'm going to assume you are doing it in bad faith.

He hasn't done anything yet. That's the issue with this whole draft.
D+3 you'd expect a few breakout players from #5 to #15.
Doesn't mean some won't turn out to be good players.
2023 draft, #7 Michkov, #13 Benson already showing their stuff.

The same staff told us that Gauthier had a sky high ceiling (despite historical data finding that unlikely outcome) up until he the moment he didn’t want them anymore & it became public.

No different than what they’re doing now with Luchanko.

They were behaving and talking as if the 1-2 punch of Gauthier and Michkov was the rebuild solved and finished.

Briere's reply specifically to how he was going to acquire top end talent for a rebuild was "Well, we drafted high the last 2 years [Gauthier and Michkov]"

So he clearly insinuated Gauthier was a top talent. Now I guess we have to rely on Michkov, Drysdale, and a 2nd round pick to be the elite talent we have been hoping for.
