Boston Bruins 2024-25 Roster and Salary Cap Discussion II

That is a good point. Didn't realize how few games he's played (relatively speaking) for his age. Even adding the 102 playoff games it's still not a massive amount.

Leads me to a another question.......given that Marchesault is at roughly 700 games, and Stamkos is at 1200, is Marchessault the safer bet? Both 1990 born.

You may of changed my stance on Marchessault.
Marchessault was an undrafted player. His 638 games are NHL games. You’re not including his 306 AHL games. My calculations show he’s played 944 pro games since his age 21-22 season (which averages 79 games played per season since age 21)

If we can get Chychrun, the sens 1st and another pick for Ullmark, I would definitely make that deal. The Bruins could then deal Lindholm for help at forward if need be.

lol at this

Chychrun, a 1st and a pick? Come on now. Obviously we'd be smash accepting. I don't believe that for a second.

Also Chychrun on our team is our 3rd pairing left D. We don't need him we need Pinto...
I would put Chychrun ahead of any of our current LHD.

It’s crazy how much 2022-2023 ruined fans for the regular season. Of course it was the Bruins who did that. Just like how the Columbus series ruined the regular season for the Lightning; difference is, Lightning responded the following year.
Sure did. I still enjoy watching regular season hockey but I put zero stock in it. Bruins fans do a lot of chest thumping October to April ( I do too) but it's really just a survival I guess to get in. Under this regime, the Bruins have been the better seed in ten series, and won 6. They have been the lower seed in five series and won once. 7-8 overall and one season making the cup beating the 5th, 7th and 8th seeds on the way (losing to the WC6 seed). You would hope at some point they would either do as well as they should or surprise a few teams. Fingers crossed.

I never realized he played that many AHL games. I guess I just assumed that his low games played was because he spent a long time in the NCAA and a bit in the minors but he wasn't even a college guy but played in the Q.

Exactly where I'm at for regular season. I'll enjoy watching them but you won't see me getting too high or low as long as they're not completely shit.

If he has been playing on the wing mostly for the last 5 years someone else said ,how many face offs would he have taken.

He's taken several hundred. Took 417 in 22-23. Enough that its a solid sample size. He's been given chances at C in the NHL but has been better on the wing. Basically another Zacha. Still a useful player and one I'd be happy to have, but he's not a solve for our center needs in my eyes.

put him at center with zacha/pastrnak, and let zacha take draws. i'd take both him and lindholm. and if necas can't hack it
at center, you have a great 2RW.

Necas is a 25-year-old restricted free agent. He had 53 points (24g, 29a) this past season, and 71 (28g, 43a) the year before. The Hurricanes, who just changed general managers, would probably like to keep him, but they have a long list of free agents both up front and on defense, and won’t be able to keep everyone.

Necas increasingly looks like one of the players who could be on his way out. He was already in trade rumors at this season’s deadline, and his father recently told a Czech media outlet that Necas wants more opportunities on the first line and power play after being moved all over Carolina’s lineup this past season. There has also been speculation that Necas wants a shot at being a center – the position he was drafted as – after being used almost exclusively as a right wing in Carolina.

The Bruins would have to decide if they think Necas could have a future at center. If they do, giving him a shot next to fellow Czech David Pastrnak (the two are currently teammates in the World Championships back in their home country) would certainly be appealing.

Even if they don’t, Necas would look nice as the No. 2 right wing behind Pastrnak. But that raises the possibility of him being unhappy if his father is speaking for him when he says Necas wants to be on a first line.

Not sure I agree on the assumption at 34 he's not looking for more than 2/3 years.

Why? unless they are signing for a hometown bargain (whether to stay where they are or to go where they want to be), I've never seen a player turn down the bag.

If I am his agent I am looking for a 5 year deal. Now maybe that can be negotiated down for more per year money, or something else, but good chance this is his last contract, He needs to get all he can get

I still miss the days in the early 2000s when every Sunday me and my buddies would get McD Cheeseburgers for $0.99 cents each (Canadian Dollars). I would buy 4.

Now I can't afford to eat there unless I have a coupon.
It gets expensive sanitizing (their) beef with Ammonia. In the late 70s we used to all meet up at BK after supper lol and get those fatty Whoppers. You used to be able to watch them go thru a barbeque rotisserie, the fat would be dripping down...
Nothing better. Nowadays, I believe they centralized the cooking process, it just aint't da same.

What's a Better trade:
Ullmark For Necas (resigns for 4-5.5 million) Within Conference could face Ullmark any time in the first 3 rounds.
Ullmark for Pierre-Luc Dubois at 50% retained (7-4.25 Million) NMC for 4 years
One born in 1998 one born in 1999
One a center one is a winger
Which one do you chose ?

Necas will have a 7 on it. And no way LA retains 50% for 7 years (May as well buy him out instead). But I’d take Necas.

PLD will never be a Bruin! Never! So I choose Necas.

Poitras will surprise everyone Slot in at #2 C. Put Zacha on the wing. If Poitras slows down, slot Zacha in. Coyle at 3 C is cup worthy.
Nope, sorry. I like Poitras a lot but the right development path for him, to me, is a year in Providence playing 20 minutes a night and concentrating on strength and conditioning. Let him play PP1, PK1 and a ton of 5 on 5. Lysell and a veteran with grit to keep an eye on both and not letting him get run as his wingers. Bring him up as your 3c in 25-26. There is a reason the Wings "over developed" the Zetterberg's and Datsyuk's, they were ready when they were called up.
